Re: It amazes me on here
Im like, what you DO NEED is real simple. You need a CPAP machine that will tell you your AHI. You need a heated humidifer You need a mask that works for you, the mask part of CPAP therapy is highly individualized You need a titrated PRESSURE set in that CPAP you own You need a hose cover so you do...

Re: oxygen concentrator
Honestly you are better off renting the concentrator. Maintenance is a big PITA and you need a special reader to make sure what the O2 levels are. The PR Everflow series and Invacare offerings are the ones that you see filters available for. Most manufacturers do not sell the parts to the public. Si...

Re: Boiling Stuff Part 2
Holy cow, almost four years later this post is still kicking around. I should feel honored that anyone remembers it. Anyways, I am glad that many have found it useful. Now I need to make a post on how to get a DME to actually ship me my supplies. 3 months waiting for a simple PilairoQ cushion and ch...

Re: Talked To Apria Almost Fell OFF MY CHAIR
While in theory it sounds nice to own your own O2 concentrator, they do require maintenance. Some tips if you are going to buy your own. 1) Make sure that you can buy the filters. I found that Amazon has the most common ones for Respironics and Invacare. 2) When considering buying your own, look at ...

Re: Respironics Bluetooth accessory module #100200B
I have been itching to try one of those in some experiments to see if one could make it work with Sleepyhead. My theory is that the data is the same as if it were stored on the SD card and you could transmit it to a bluetooth capable laptop/PC. My other theory is that a Sleepyhead app could be writt...

Re: $60 for 1 ounce of molded plastic. $960/lb.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned as well is that you are paying for products that were designed and never made. Pharmaceuticals and medical equipment manufacturers spend millions on products that will never see the light of day. Many are ones that don't get regulatory approval and can't be redes...

Re: Your sleep doctor's most inane statement
Sleep Doc #1 - Me: "I am having a lot of problems sleeping with the mask, what can we do?" Him: " Yep, a lot of people have that problem" ( Exit doctor and 2 minutes later in comes his nurse ) Nurse: "Ok, you are all set, he wants to see you again if you have any problems" Sleep Doc #2 - Me: "I thin...

Re: DME keeps trying to deliver a discontinued ASV machine
What amazes me is that the sleep doctor ( board certified in sleep medicine and neurology) seems to know nothing about the specific units. It seems rather ridiculous that i am better informed about the specifics of cpap units rather than a specialist in the field. Actually the doctors keep up with ...

Re: Has anyone tried Marc McDonald's alternative treatment?
I am always skeptic of those that make claims that they cure apnea. If you take a look at the landing page.....quoted from there..... ApneaTreatmentGuide.com is dedicated to educating sleep apnea sufferers on the dozens of little-known treatments that are proven in scientific trials to cure sleep ap...

Re: Travel/Hotel Question
When traveling, I use a sil-pat baking sheet under the machine. That way the hotel can't say I damaged the nightstand. I leave the machine out and tuck the mask and hose into my luggage. I have never had a problem. The hotel staff is trained to not go near it. When I stayed at a Candlewood Suites in...

Re: New Software iPhone, Web, and Backup
Hi Allen, My hopes are to be able to get it working over WiFi. I like Bluetooth in general, but it seems to be limited in the Phillips system. For example it appears their Bluetooth module has a proprietary connector. This means you can only use the Phillips BT module and it's roughly twice as expe...

Re: New Software iPhone, Web, and Backup
My thoughts would be that there is a Bluetooth module that works with the Sleepmapper app. Sleepmapper though only shows basic info. The data that would be written to the SD card has to be there since the Bluetooth module connects into the SD card slot. My theory is that an app could be written that...

Re: What do you want on your next-gen S10, PRS2?
Do you mean the O2 concentrator should plug directly into the box instead of a canula on the mask or in the hose? That could be good too. It would reduce line clutter to the hands and face. Are there reasons why makers would not want that to be done? What do you mean by "built-in port with entrainm...

Re: What do you want on your next-gen S10, PRS2?
Built in touchscreen that can flip up so you don't have to be hunched over the machine to see it. Wi-Fi for sure. Bluetooth would be nice with a smartphone app (Kind of like ZEO but without connecting to the internet) that shows all of the info not just 3 parameters. Built in connectivity with an ox...

Re: OT: Why do dogs..
Those are BILLIONS people. Our beautiful songbird population has been decimated. The article points out that cats rarely kill mammal pests like rats. Instead they kill native mammals like shrews, chipmunks and voles. Shame on you! You scream bloody murder if an oil spill affects a few hundred birds...
