Re: CPAP Died. What to do now???

My Resmed airsense10 died while I was asleep. I managed to push the pillows out of my nose and woke up a little while later. Unplugged and replugged everything and the light in.the on off button does not come on. Nothing. 30 minute on hold for the DME. Cannot have the tech appointment till Thursday....

Re: how to fix on/off button resmed s8 autoset spirit 11

When I take the button out, the button has two tips that are black. Are those carbon? Then there are 2 printed contacts (appear to be) one with the letters SW1 and one SW1 A Those do not look as if they could be scraped. I used qtips and alcohol to clean both and the button is a little bit alive, it...

Re: How To Choose Between Two Bad Presidential Candidates

Seriously, I assume Hillary has already taken money from the cpap manufacturers so she will make the insurance companies pay for new machines every year. On the other hand Trumps casinos are open for play 24 hours, so he must be sympathetic to this who cannot get a good sleep. And both of them seem ...

Re: Still Exhausted

Not sure if the graph, and analyzing it will explain why you are still exhausted. I have waves of exhaustion despite being a compliant cap user. My doctor suggests getting more sleep, and I sometimes do just that. No improvement noticed unless it us really narcolepsy.

FUN! Try to have some fun! An essential and much underestimated emotional nutrient. Does he like to hike? Hike, even in a wheelchair. Did he always want to write the great novel.... take dictations or get him a volunteer secretary. Does he want a cruise? I met a 31 year old woman whose cancer return...

Re: Why is it necessary to have a support team?

I have been on CPAP for over 9 years. When first diagnosed I tried to find a support team, a self help group for people with apnea but there was nothing nearby. When I eventually went to such a group, the people who came were all so much older and sicker than me that I was terrified at the thought t...

Re: New Device To Revolutionize CPAP!!

Couldn't we all be cured by taking up the didgerigoo? Or loud singing in the church choir with the cute organist instructing us how to breathe? I am sure that and eating pound cake will improve our sleep

Panic/new suppliers

I am sorry to admit that I am terribly panicked out by the need to order a mask replacement. I cannot remember which supplier I used last time, but I think they no longer service my location. Now each time I pick a supplier they always want a prescription. And it seems to me that each prescription c...

Re: Poll: What mask type do you use?

I use the Swift II and have used Swift nasal pillows almost since day 1. The reason I tried that first was because I was told that a man with facial hair would not get a good fit with a standard mask.

Re: I swear the machine's making me sleepier!

I check my data every morning and don't have high leaks or many hypopneas or apneas, but feel more tired now than before I started treatment. The only explanation I can come up with is that I may be more aware of tiredness. Perhaps before I knew I had a problem I just pushed myself to keep on going,...

Re: Psychological impact

The patient needs reassurance, and understanding instead of the usual platitudes about how easy it will be to get used to it and how much better you will feel. I have been horrified at the brain dead RTs working for my DME... that part has been a horrible experience. try and talk to your patients an...

I found that the night sweats stopped immediately, so did the feeling groggy when waking up from a nap. Within 6 months my blood pressure and cholesterol levels improved. But I believed that there would be meaningful improvements, and really only opted so eagerly for CPAP because I thought they woul...

I think it took over 6 monyjs for me to see an effect from CPAP at lower blood pressure, your doctor probably would hold back the medications if he notices that you are generally improving management of your health with CPAP and weight loss

I think those AHIs are way too high to be considered a successful treatment of OSA. Some doctors are not into talking, you don't indicate of he is a real sleep specialist or just an internist or pulmonologist. Requesting an APAP is easy, but some doctors really don;t believe in the relaibility of au...

Does anyone know if Con Edison of NY offers a discount for CPAP users and other assistance? their rates are about the highest nationwide... they could afford to give a break for when we need long naps!
