Re: Bipap injury?

What kinds of injuries have you heard about, and where did you hear about them? Sleep technicians, CPAP websites, and some users here all warn against modifying your settings, or against using BIPaP when prescribed a CPAP. But they never specify what injuries could occur. My breathing is full of ce...

Re: Sleep study results?

you might be experiencing sleep-transition central apnea or other arousal disturbances connected with the neurochemical regulation mechanisms at work when you fall asleep. Oh my gosh, thank you! This perfectly describes what I'm experiencing every night. Everyone keeps telling me that I need to try...

Re: Sleep study results?

It would help a lot to see an Oscar chart illustrating these two phenomena. Thank you for asking. 1. I struggle to fall asleep because my lungs don't keep breathing once I'm asleep. Yesterday morning I tried to sleep with the BiPAP from ~4-7am, and I kept waking up because I had stopped breathing a...

Re: Sleep study results?

Interesting information, Calle; thanks. The timing seems wrong for the OP, though, at least according to his subjective experience. To the OP: do you have a timeline from the study showing when your RERAs occurred? I don't have a timeline, but my issues are twofold: 1. I struggle with falling into ...

Re: Sleep study results?

Are you going to a sleep doctor who ignores the major trouble you have in trying to fall asleep? Or is it that you're arguing with the doctor about the reason you have these problems? That is a fair question. I'm not arguing with the doctor's findings, I do have upper airway resistance syndrome. Ho...

Sleep study results?

I finally got a printout of my sleep study results, and they don't look great. It took me about 5 hours to finally fall asleep due to 98 spontaneous arousals. Every time I doze off, it feels like my lungs stopped putting in the effort to breathe, and I'll wake up gasping for air over and over for 5 ...

Re: Can you show me confirmed examples of central sleep apnea?

Here's a little test I just did for a few minutes. Pressure felt good, and my breathing also felt kind of normal for once.

Resmed Airsense 10
Minimum pressure 9
EPR 3 full time
Max pressure 13

Re: Can you show me confirmed examples of central sleep apnea?

While it isn't clear to me in the zoomed-in views whether you're truly asleep or not, I'm not asleep on either of them. The top view (23:40) is me relaxing in bed, waiting to fall asleep. The bottom view (23:57) is me starting to doze off, but struggling to do so. The two breathing patterns look pr...

Re: Can you show me confirmed examples of central sleep apnea?

I wonder if he is having hypnic jerks? I get those too, but only occasionally. My main problem is that my breathing gets shallower and shallower as I'm falling asleep. Once I'm finally asleep, my body wakes me up to manually take a breath. Shoot, guys... I think my sleep-breathing's broken. After s...

Re: Can you show me confirmed examples of central sleep apnea?

Thank you so much for your reply! The reason I'm asking is because I've been suffering from a strange condition for a month. Every time I'm dozing off to sleep, I can feel my breathing slowing down. I'm too tired to do anything about it, so I just let it take over. But 1-2 seconds after I finally fa...

Can you show me confirmed examples of central sleep apnea?

I've seen several posts of people here asking if they have Central Sleep Apnea, only to be quickly told that they don't. Myself included, I sometimes think I might have had CA events, but a few people quickly let me know that I don't. Yesterday I posted this image; very diminished breathing with a C...

Re: How do I set my Dreamstation BiPAP to timed mode?

Are you / were you a smoker? How bad was your Covid? Were you hospitalized? Did you need any help with breathing while you were ill? What about Covid made you focus on your breathing in the first place - just the jolts after you recovered? I am not a smoker, I used to have no health issues, 5'8" he...

Re: How do I set my Dreamstation BiPAP to timed mode?

Nothing in that perious looks regular enough for valid analysis. First off, thank you for your insight and for explaining things so methodically. Do you have a similar chart that shows what regular sleep-breathing would look like? Why the heck is mine so erratic? You may have disordered breathing t...
