Re: In the UK...Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
An update of sorts. After more nights of zero sleep with the VAuto, I decided to take a break from treatment entirely. I'm back to 7 hours of very broken, mouth-breathing sleep, and have returned to my baseline level of mild to moderate autonomic dysfunction and feeling vaguely wired-but-tired. Whic...

Re: In the UK...Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
It's great the machine has arrived! Do take it out of S mode, though. For some reason, in S mode, flow limitation data aren't generated or displayed in Oscar. In regular VAuto mode, simply set your minimum pressure at 4, your PS at 3.4, and your maximum pressure at 7.4. Stay with those settings for...

Re: In the UK...Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
The VAuto has arrived. I think I've got it set to approximately mimic my Airsense 10 settings - it is definitely a bit more complicated than CPAP (and I don't have ResMed phoning me every two weeks to 'help' this time). I had the Airsense in fixed pressure mode set to 7.4, EPR of 3, which was just a...

Re: In the UK...Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
I'm the opposite, I need to stay on my left side otherwise I go downhill. I have UARS too. I have built a device that has a gyroscope and is battery powered. This straps around your chest and will vibrate and wake you if you deviate from the preprogrammed angles. If you're unable to work out how to...

Re: In the UK...Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
The other anatomy 'mechanics' solution for such a roll-over begin with the raising of the torso via the arm and elbow – which gets a person half way. The rest of the roll is via the pelvis, as above. So a pyjama jacket which was affixed to the bed by large Velco patches under the shoulders might di...

Re: Using eucalyptus with CPAP for persistent blocked nose
I am someone with a horribly blocked nose and currently trying to problem-solve it like it’s my full-time job. I really feel for you. It’s profoundly frustrating. This is not what you asked, but it made me think. Since the benefit of eucalyptus is sensory — it activates neurons that make your nose f...

Re: In the UK...Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
Pondering. My congestion is hugely (hugely) influenced by position, confirmed at my last ENT appointment. I am naturally a side sleeper, but this completely blocks one of my nostrils and partly blocks the other. If I sleep on my back, my nose (mostly) clears. Back sleeping also worsens my apnea sinc...

Re: In the UK...Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
Long overdue update, I suppose, though also not really much of an update at all. I have managed to get a slight improvement in my sleep time by setting the CPAP to fixed pressure (I settled on a pressure of 7.4 with EPR at 3, which feels like it's not quite enough but it's the maximum I can tolerate...

Re: In the UK...Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
I would do literally anything at this point to get my life back but — I think in part because I am young and look relatively well (for now) — I cannot get the NHS to intervene at all (I am paying for all of this out of pocket now because the NHS ‘no longer does turbinates’), and frankly I would prob...

Re: In the UK...Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
Tried a nasal mask. Experimented with chin straps, eventually figured out a soft neck brace would keep my mouth closed. Woke up choking with blue lips and nails because my nose was so blocked and the pressure on the machine had just pushed the mask off my face. So I don’t think I can use a nasal mas...

Re: Does Anyone Hate their CPAP?
There are cheap over the counter MADs available, at least in the USA, but I don’t know how effective or comfortable they are. There are some here too, and lots that are semi-custom boil-and-bite type deals, but I unfortunately have super crooked teeth which makes all but the fully custom ones impos...

Re: In the UK...Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
I am now slightly more awake, sorry for the earlier post. Unfortunately I am also having difficulty sleeping without the machine now too. I've taken a few days off here and there (and am barely using the machine for an hour a night anyway now) but it seems like my nose is just inflamed no matter wha...

Re: Does Anyone Hate their CPAP?
Insurance may cover part of the MAD. Mine paid for half of it. I can pay for the other half with Pretax money in Flexible Savings Account, so that helps as well. Hopefully I will be able to use it. I’m in the UK where the healthcare model doesn’t revolve around insurance. We have fully socialised h...

Re: Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
I slept about 40 minutes last night. Nose seems to be getting more and more blocked. I have what feels like a sinus headache 24/7 now. I can’t get care. My consultant is too busy to see me and my appointment to see if I need turbinate reduction has been moved back to the new year. My GP says to spea...

Re: Pod153’s Big Mild OSA/UARS Adventure - ready to give up
If you're being checked again for turbinate reduction, that means some of your flow limitations could be a result of the structure of your airway. CPAP therapy can't do a thing about structural problems. ResMed machines on auto mode are extremely responsive to what they identify as flow limitations...
