it says a lot of people return it, but I’ve had it for almost 3 years and it works just fine for me. I like that. It has a little stretchy rubber band to give a little bit of bounce if I needed it.

I didn't notice if you are using distilled water. Why didn't you carefully peruse? I wrote twice "refill with distilled water" and "refilled with distilled water". I didn't notice if you are using distilled water. If you are NOT and if you have hard water, the vinegar is possibly loosening it up but still leaving bits behind (like shower scale for example.)

Are you using only distilled?
If not, you should probably be doing so now.
