Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
I don't have much time right now to answer all the questions individually, but I appreciate all of it⦠...the support, the reality checks and the many things to consider. I do want to clarify about my doctor's advice. The doctor I referenced is awesome, but this is not his area of expertise as he is...

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
I appreciate everyone who has contributed to this thread. I did not mean to initiate so much conflict! I know without seeing my reports you really can't give me proper advice. My question was more in general, regarding back sleeping. I had been told that side sleeping is best for sleep apnea so I ca...

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
.... have you posted (here) any OSCAR data? I had posted some reports and was given the recommendation to increase my minimum and to increase the maximum if I noticed I was reaching 15 frequently. My doctor happened to review my data that same day and gave me the advice to increase the minimum. I s...

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
I haven't followed your thread. Is there a reason you have limited the max to 15? Most of us set it to 20. The machine will not raise the pressure any higher than needed. That is how my doctor set it up when I started cpap treatment. He reviewed my data just before I had to change my sleep position...

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
you can try 10 or so for a min and 20 for a max. That is the exact setting I was contemplating! I've actually already increased my minimum up to 9 recently and was thinking to get to 10 or 11 soon anyways.π BTW, if it is a shoulder problem forcing you to sleep differently there are special pillows ...

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
Good day everyone! π Would my max pressure need adjusted due to a change in sleeping position? π€ I've been a side sleeper, but had to switch to sleeping on my back a little over a month ago due to an injury. My sleep quality has gone down since, and I had attributed that to pain or discomfort. I had...

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
i would recommend cpap.com, our sponsor. they have a trial period (or they used to) of 30 days for masks. that's good news. the bad news is they don't bill any insurance. I have been purchasing some supplies from cpap.com already since my doctor recommended to purchase from there. π I figure I can ...

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
π€ I am supposedly getting my very own Resmed 11 (autoset) next week. I'm not holding my breath (pun intended) as my DME is staffed by severely incompetent people. (Thank all of you who warned me in advance about this!) I'm expecting they will set it up per the Rx and I just need to make the changes ...

Re: Advice on cpap machine purchase
Thanks Pugsy, zonker, KobeT, and D.H.!
It seems pretty obvious then he should proceed through insurance. Financially his situation sucks either way, but that would be choice with the least risk.

Advice on cpap machine purchase
Hello folks, asking this question for a friend who is not a member of this forum. He was told by the DME his cost is $950 for a ResMed Airsense 11 Autoset plus mask. I'm figuring that breaks down to about $800 for the machine and $150 for the mask. He has a really high deductible so that's as good a...

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
sleep hygiene Are you doing light therapy first thing in the morning? If so, what are you doing? Moving is the real issue! The adaptation if you can't physically go outside is to either have a bright indoor light or to sit at a sunlit window. I choose the window, unless it's overcast or earlier tha...

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
Thanks Jlfinkels for your words of encouragement! I I'm committed to using CPAP regardless of how I feel because, although I hoped to feel better, I do recognize the health benefits of the treatment.

Re: New to using Cpap (a bit lost...)
How are your sleep hygiene, nutrition, and moderate exercise programs? Have you tried getting ten minutes of sunlight as soon as you awaken? I have taken sleep hygiene courses back when I thought insomnia was my only problem. I do all of the things that are recommended. It did help me improve my in...
