You're not referring to me right? You're referring to the person who called me a Whiner, right? Or in your book it's ok if someone calls me a name. I'm just not allowed to respond in kind? Somehow that doesn't seem real fair to me.

Dear Tortured One: - I get it. I really get it. I hate my cpap machine too. its ugly, it leaks, it takes up space, it blows air elsewhere, it pinches, gotta be cleaned etc. Bur, the results for my first 5 weeks on Cpap are fabulous. I sleep all night now after 20 yrs of tossing and turning. My AHPs are normal. You may not know what that is. But its very important. In addition I may even live longer.

Consider yourself lucky you need only need two months of cpap. If you can share, why do you need this for surgery? The majority of folks on this forum are on it forever. So grin and bear it. May seem like torture but its meant to help you in the long run.

Dear Tortured. Yes I get it--believe me I get it. Been on this for 6 weeks. I hate mine too. it leaks, it takes up room, I am sleepier in the day now than before and I have lots of congestion. But I do sleep all night, and my AHIs are down to normal. Maybe you dont know what that is but its important. A-Apopnea when you stop breathing, H-when your throat starts to close up. These are usually the reason one starts cpap therapy.
Have not seen my sleep Dr since he set me up with this stuff. In two weeks I have an apt. and will discuss with him my problems and see if he has an answer. Have tried a few things from the board here. Not successful. I may quit the whole thing. Cannot keep walking around like I have a cold.

BTW--what kind of surgery requires you to have sleep therapy?--if you dont mind. Must be a reason for it.

Why have you posted the same notes 3 times?

3 times is fairly reasonable.
Some people's OCD forces them to do the same thing even more times.
Some 5, 7, or TEN times!
A MESS seems to be only mildly afflicted . . .
Don't be ashamed of your OCD. It beats the heck out of drugs!

It's a mental trifecta....senility, anxiety, lack of sex.

Dear Tortured One. I hear ya. I hate mine too. it leaks, it takes up space, it looks awful etc etc. But I am sleeping all night now and my AHIs are normal. Yes, there are other problems with it. Suggest you just go with the flow till surgery time. BTW what kind of surgery requires this?

Hearing voices again, I see typing on me screen, but I don't hear it. Still repeting the same thing over and over again. Jim

I think there is something wrong with the computer there. Remember all the posts with the messages not posting? NOw we are getting multiples. Maybe they appeared to send, didn't show up fast, so were sent again. They do seem to have time between them. Perhaps the wifi there is not working right and the posts are being sent with a delay. By the time the first one shows up, 3 more have been sent.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Dear Tortured: Yeah I hate mine too. It leaks, it looks awful, I strangle myself on the cord, it blows air into my eyes, leaves marks on my face and more. But I sleep most of the night and my ahis are down from 68 per hr to 2.5.

Suggest you stick with it. Lucky you --only two months. Most of us here are lifers.

P.S. What kind of surgery requires CPAP MACHINE?

I don't know that this is what might be going on with the recent person who posted but often when people are going to have bariatric surgery they have to go through a sleep study to see if they have sleep apnea as part of the overall bariatric surgery evaluation process and if they do have OSA they have to use the cpap until such a time they have lost enough weight for a repeat sleep study to see if the weight loss resolved the OSA issues.

I love my cpap. My dentist had surgery to avoid cpap.
Now he needs a bilevel (higher pressure), and whenever he drinks, it goes up his nose.
YMMV, but I am so grateful I stayed on the right road.

Sounds like he got the fickle finger of fate, He needed a better dentist to consult. Jim

well I guess you'd be happier in a wooden box and 6 foot under rather then using your machine. if I were you I would use my machine. and if your overweight or obese losing just 10% of your body weight can get you a pressure reduction or maybe even U getting off the machine all together. just try it and see what happens good luck.
