"Ambient bedroom temperature"--I can see how following "green" guidelines,
keeping ones surroundings at a low temperature, may not be ideal for everyone.
Some of us may even get chilled and take ill.

I actually had hypothermia caused by using my cpap machine but the circumstances were very specific. We had a prolonged power outage and the temperature in the house reached 37F. I foolishly ran my cpap machine on batteries and ended up with hypothermia. This is not something that would happen in any ordinary situation.

If it was 37F degrees in the home, how was the CPAP the cause of the "hypothermia" and not the ambient room temperature? Wouldn't the air you are breathing in from the room be the same temperature as the air you are breathing in from the CPAP???

And did you get taken to ER to be diagnosed with hypothermia or were you just really cold??? Did you take your temperature with a reliable thermometer, and what was it?

Growing up, my depression era dad always turned off the heat at night. We didn't live in a very cold climate, but sometimes it got below freezing in the winter. It was warm in bed with flannel pajamas, socks, and plenty of blankets, but the room was cold. I'd shiver violently when I got out of bed until I had a warm shower and was dressed. We never could convince my dad that it probably cost more to bring a freezing cold house to a liveable temperature than not turning the heat ALL the way off every night. But none of us died from hypothermia, which is a life-threatening emergency state.

Notice that the OP says "chills" and does not mention hypothermia. Two completely different things.

Now tell us about your "hypothermia". Where did the medical facility insert the low-temperature probe? Was it in your rectum, your bladder, or your esophagus? Those are the ways that a diagnosis of hypothermia is made.

Tin foil hat won't work without a ground.
I suggest a paper clip chain long enough to reach the floor.

Right. He only says he had chills. The reference to hypothermia was about some nonsense he found by googling.

I'm wondering if this CPAP-causes-hypothermia had its origin in a study on the neonatal use of CPAP in third-world countries on babies. These babies already had hypothermia due to poor local conditions. The babies who were put on CPAP had a significantly higher survival rate.

Maybe a casual (ignorant) reader saw a few words of the study and started this CPAP-causes-hypothermia nonsense.

to be honest, this is pretty much why i don't read such studies. i don't have the background(or patience) to plow through them to see what they say.

i just try to find a trusted source to do the interpretation and read that.

this is why you won't see me often coming in here to post a link and say "hey, guys! look at this!".

because i know you or palerider will have the right of it.

I have a portable heater in my room. The house is set say 68. I think the heater kicks out up to 71-72

No heated hose. Resmed Airsense 10

the only thing i can recommend is seeing a doctor about your chills. i have never seen anyone report here what you are describing. and i, personally, don't think it's cpap related at all. but i'm willing to be shown wrong.

see a doctor.

Already have, blood test, thyroid, diabetes, lime disease etc. Chest x-ray for lung infection negative. I'm suppose to go back for more test. I'm not blaming the cpap but I only get them overnight and when I use it. When I don't use it, no chills. My thinking is whatever the issue the cpap may be exaggerating it.
