Spitting up Blood and Cpap

Post by J.Wayne » Fri Feb 17, 2006 9:04 am

Is there anyone else that is or have had issues with spitting up blood that was caused by the force of their cpap?

Nearly 2 years ago I moved to Georgia, and at this time was blessed with a major sinus infection. This was a first, but was not the last. Since we have moved back home to Tennessee and the problems have not quit. Also I started having severe nose bleeds which have decreased and nearly stopped. I still have the everyday morning clogged throat, which I have had for many years but since I have been on cpap, I awake every morning with a throat full of blood.

Could I still be having nose bleeds and the force of the cpap just be forceing it down instead of out? I also have a pre cancerous condition in my esophagus which I wonder what effect the constant air might have an effect on.

The later problem will hopefully be answered tomorrow after I have an ENG (scope). I have asked my doctor numerous times about the nosebleeds and get nowhere.

Just to clear an answer on another forum....No I do not pick my nose...which could be the cause of the nosebleeds. With wearing a ff mask that is not any easy task to achieve.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

The use of CPAP is contra-indicated when you have a sinus infection. Anytime something like this happens you should contact your doctor immediately!
