Brain Fog wth Vision Issues

Post by tlewis303 » Mon Aug 18, 2014 1:54 pm

Hi,
Anyone experience brain fog and vision issues while treating your OSA?
Eyes feel crudy and long and short distance sight is messed up.
Started when the brain fog started 4 yrs ago. Only been on cpap for a yr now. Fog was less 2 months after therapy but has gone back to heavy again over the last month.
I do toss and turn alot. Trying new mattress now.
Thanks for input.

Are you experiencing discharge from your eyes? Do you have mask leaks that hit your eyes? Could be conjunctivitis (pink eye).

I responded to your posts in the other thread, so check that one. My reply would be similar to this post of yours.

I don't think conjunctivitis lasts for 4 years...

I already asked the usual meds and hours of sleep and fragmented sleep questions in another thread so I am posting it here in case those answers end up being relevant.

I'm in bed 7-8 a night but I wake up 6-8x a night. Turn-over and go right back to sleep. I think I have a bad case of sleep frag. I never stay in the restorative sleep phases long enough. Years ago I would sleep with fire scanner next to as I'm a volunteer firefigher. I'm sure that wasn't good for the long term.
I need to see some software detailed reports to start with. Maybe something there will maybe explain the poor sleep quality.

Can't help with eye issues except to say....see eye doctor to rule out anything related to eyeball before blaming mask leaks or pressure.

Have you checked with your doctor? In particular, vision problems are often one of the first signs of stroke.

Some people think CPAP can affect glaucoma, so get checked.

My vision seems to vary a lot with how well I sleep, so it could be related to apnea and CPAP.

I just want to co-sign all the suggestions to see an eye doctor. I didn't - had a million and one maybes and reasons why not. Proudly managed to avoid seeing one for several years, even found 2nd hand glasses at thrift stores. Didn't feel so proud when I found out I had glaucoma with scary high sight threatening pressures. OSA and/or CPAP use may be related to some eye issues, but the stakes are too high for maybes.

I think eyes are just tired from lack of quality deep rem sleep. I think mask leaks are waking me up. I just purchased a cpap pillow works better than a regular pillow as far as mask alignment. Anyway here are my stats for review. Any help would be appreciated.

Nope. Looks boring. Nothing screams out "fix me and you will feel better".
Of course we can't see fragmented sleep...wake ups...etc by just looking at the statistics. There's simply so much more to getting good quality sleep than just some numbers on a piece of paper.

I prefer to evaluate the individual nightly detailed graphs myself because numbers don't always tell the whole story.
Like your RERAs....1.xxx per hour isn't many but maybe they are happening all in a cluster which might mean something.

Also....maybe you have a UARS component going on. Upper Airway Respiratory Syndrome.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upper_airw ... e_syndrome
It's not going to show up in your stats

You are already using a fixed pressure so we can't blame varying pressures. It's a relatively low pressure. Maybe you would feel better with a little more pressure. You don't need it for the OAs or hypoenas but maybe you need it from just a comfort aspect.
Avg Pressure 6.00 6.00
Min Pressure 6.00 6.00
Max Pressure 6.00 6.00
90% Pressure 6.00 6.00
