Quattro FX vs. Airfit F10

Post by BlowingWithTheWind » Fri Aug 01, 2014 2:58 pm

So I am in the never ending quest for the best mask. My DME fitted me with the Quattro. It was a disaster. Leaks and it bothered my eyes. They are coming out to fit me with the Quattro FX. I notice there is also an Airfit F10, but they do not carry that one. For those of you out in CPAP-land, what are your thoughts between the FX and the F10? Heck, I would pay for the right mask out of my own pocket to get a decent and comfortable night!

I've tried the F10 and the Quattro AIR not FX with both medium and large pillows. I have a very narrow nose bridge but a fat face so the Quattro with its full frame holds leaks better around my nose. The F10 seems more difficult to crank down at the top due the indirect pressure from the arms/straps. But it is comfortable and somewhat cooler. In the end I went crazy on nasal rinsing and switched to the P10, which I am beyond happy with.

I love the F10! I have not used Quattro FX, but I did use Quattro Air; the F10 uses the same cushion as Air, but F10 does not have a forehead arm or forehead straps, making it much more comfortable. I feel so free with it.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

Quattro AIR not FX with both medium and large pillows
Unless I am not reading that sentence properly or there is another Quattro Air out I am not familiar with, the Quattro Air I have does not have nasal pillows but is a FF mask

I bought both. The F10 is comfortable enough, but I'm having too many issues with leaks unless I'm in the "magic position"...whatever that is. I tend to flip from side to side at night, and like to be able to sleep on my stomach, as well. The F10 doesn't allow pretty much any of this. The Quattro FX, however, seems to have a bit sturdier grip through all my moving at night. I can even snuggle my face into the pillow while sleeping on my belly...yes, there are leaks at times, but NOWHERE near as bad as I have with the F10...which I'm returning this weekend.
My face is sort of wide...relatively flat. The Quattro is a bit wider at the base than the F10, I believe. I don't have both with me in the truck to side by side compare, sorry.

I have never been able to sleep on my stomach while wearing a mask; the closest has been on my side.

There tends to be confusion when folk shorten already confusing Resmed mask model names. There is the Quattro, the Quattro FX, then comes the Quattro AIR & now the F10.

Sorry - what should I call the "sized" part of the FFM that clips into the frame? Pillow is probably the wrong word but I could not think of another - clap.com calls it a cushion, so that might be less confusing...

I have used both the Resmed Quattro FX and The Resmed P10. There are sleight differences in the two. As someone mentioned, the bottom area (base) is more narrow that on the on the F10 than on the Quattro FX. For me, I tend to use the Quattro FX more often as the bottom area of the cushion is wider and accodates dropping the jaw as most of us Sleep Apnea folks do. Not to say the F10 is not a good mask, it certainly is, especially if you have a more narrow mouth. The F10 tends to ride higher on the bridge of the nose almost to the top, the FX sits exactly mid bridge which gets rid of the old "sore nose".

There are some measurement fitting guides for both masks around online. It comes down to how much space you want for the oral part of the mask. I use a medium cushion for both masks and find that FX is more accomodating for me.

I tend to trade off more between the Resmed Quattro FX and the Phillips Resperonics Amara View. If you want a mask that will staty put if you are an active sleeper try the Amara View. It is so minimally obtrusive it doesn't even touch the pillow when you sleep on your side.

Just my opnion.

In my diligent desperate search for a full face...I narrowed between the airfit and Quattro. Several comments 're the leaking and affecting eyes really concerned me...then a user, who originally experienced same issues, found out he was making it to tight for cushion to "float " comfortably on face. After he readjusted he says no issues with eyes or leaking and what he once despised he now loves. Hope this helps. Lol I'm still trying to decide between the 2.
