Encore Pro 2 question

Post by photonic » Thu Jul 31, 2014 6:40 pm

I am setting up Encore Pro 2 to track my progress (also going to use SleepyHead)

With the Encore program, when I try to import from my SD card, it tells me that the "media doesn't belong to an active patient". I HAVE set up myself as a patient in the program, but I suspect the DME had the card set up in a way that MY version of the program doesn't recognize (perhaps). There is a tab that would allow me to "assign" the card and explains: "The media will be set up for the following patient" I am worried that this step will alter the card in some way and screw up my DME/MD's settings or let them know that I am following the card with *ahem* borrowed software.

Any thoughts on how to initiate following my card with my own copy of Encore as noted above or should I not mess around and just use SleepyHead alone that seems to read the card just fine.

Thanks to any software gurus!

Selecting the tab for assigning this card to the patient just makes a record within Encore Pro.
I don't think any change is made to the card itself.
Your could always try it with the read=only switch set so writing on the card would be permitted.
Its always good to be cautious

OK got brave, write protected the card (thank god) and it told me that the program could not alter the media due to write protection. Welllll, now we know that that tab actually writes to and alters the card. Hmmmmm.......

I don't have encore pro, I've heard it's a lumbering beast and not worth the trouble.

encore basic isn't much better, but what I did to get it to work was to tell it to import the data for a new patient, once I popped in the card.. or, was that on resscan. you might want to ignore my suggestion

When I setup Encore Basic and put my 6yo smart card from my M-series into it, it said the same thing. I just went ahead and did it. I made sure that Erase card was NOT selected.

After, I got a full Jan 22nd - July 20th report from it without any problems.

Now I always unselect Erase Card and Return card to client each time I read data from it.

Great you did the experiment!
Now we all know how Encore identifies a card-patient connection.
Thank you.

Assigning the card to the patient doesn't alter anything on the SD card at all. Nothing. DME or doc won't ever know you looked if you don't tell them. You could have gone ahead and told the software to download anyway instead of stopping when you saw the "this media doesn't belong...." message and it would still have download.

What it was telling you with the alert about write protect is that you couldn't make any changes to the SD card with the software .....since settings can be changed via SD card transmission written to the SD card with the software and conveyed to the machine when the SD card gets put back in the machine.

IF you have already given your card to the DME once then Encore has marked you as their patient probably using your legal name.

So you can create a new patient and try the real name or just continue the download you were doing, yes it will mark the card but the DME prob won't even notice next time. And so what if he does.
