First Night with TAP PAP - Observations and Questions

My first night with my new TAP PAP Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Improved Stability Mouthpiece went faitrly well. https://www.cpap.com/productpage/tap-pa ... roved.html

I had to fit the mouthpiece 3 times and although it is now snug and comfortable, there is one observation with the mouthpiece that I'm not certain about. The upper lip, towards the front, is folded over on itself. Basically exposing my teeth near the front. A picture would show this better but I didn't take one. It is comfortable and stays in place so maybe this isn't an issue.

The first time I fit the mouthpiece I didn't "suck" enough and it was loose.
The 2nd time was tighter but I noticed this lip folded over so decided to do it again.
The 3rd time the lip folder over again so I figured it's being caused by my mouth structure.

Observations:
1) I slept well but the hose didn't stay out of the way like I thought it would. I had to arrange the hose each time I turned over. I need to experiment more with this.
2) The mask is comfortable and less obtrussive than the, already impressive, Airfit P10.
3) I did notice my mouyhe was much dryer. Giving it some to time to see if this improves. I'm not a mouth breather either.
4) My AHI was higher than usual (.6 according to the machine - not software) but not alarming by any stretch.

Questions:
1) Do you think I should fit the mouthpiece again?
2) Any advice on hose routing/managment?

Not sure what you mean by lip fold over....on the mouth guard itself? I had that happen. As long as you can get the guard in and out easily don't worry about it. The main thing is for the guard to hold the nasal pillows in place.

Hose routing....can you fix yourself some sort of DIY hose management thing overhead? I don't use one myself because I have always just routed the hose on the mattress and around the top of my bed pillow and down towards my face. It has worked well for me with any mask I have used.

Yes, the mouthguard. I should have been more specific.

I'll experiment with the method you described more. I would prefer that. I tried this last night and the hose seemed to gut hung up more than I would have liked. I typically lay the hose across the pillow that I have between me and the edge of the bed. I have always used 2 pillows (even before CPAP) side by side (or 1 longer pillow) with my main pillow being the 2nd one in from the edge.

2nd night was better, as I suspected. Thinking my mouthguard may be a little too tight. No teeth soreness like others experienced though.

AHI was at .6 again this morning. Not bad but little higher than typical for me. Quality of sleep was good so that number is not an issue. Still a little curious as to why though.

I have found that my Rbe Goldburg hose hanger system helps a lot by bringing the hose down from above, making it less likely for me to get tangled in it.

I use the Tap Pap and absolutely love this mask. Been using it since it came out over a year ago, and I still have the original cushions. What a cost savings!

I route my hose over the headboard, and it rarely gets in the way. I think with time, you'll find it isn't as intrusive.

If you use a chin strap you can attach a bit of velcro to the strap on top of your head, then you have a route set up for your hose. Helps keep the mouthpiece completely stable if you move.
