Re: Suggestions for Grilling my Sleep Doc?
She also changed my diagnosis from mild to severe apnea and weighed the idea of switching to BiPAP if I don't stop swallowing air Are you currently using the maximum EPR setting of 3? That might help with the air swallowing (aerophagia.) There's a youtube video in the links in my signature line tha...

Re: Suggestions for Grilling my Sleep Doc?
Thanks everyone, I went with a honey based sauce. She was great, though reminded me a little of Carrie on the show Homeland. The suggestions were helpful, I did bring the printouts I had from the F&P software, though I wish I had known to bring my SD card from the ResMed as well. I was told by my E...

Suggestions for Grilling my Sleep Doc?
I'll be seeing a sleep specialist today instead of an ENT. Any suggestions on what to ask him? I've been on CPAP for about 77 days. I was using the F&P Icon+ which put my 90% pressure at 5.5. The ResMed S9 puts it capping out at 10 which is the maximum pressure my ENT prescribed. Essentially I'm sti...

CPAP & the Dentist
I'm sure this has been discussed but it was new information to me yesterday. I had my teeth cleaned after picking up a new APAP yesterday, so I asked my dentist some questions while it was on my mind. Dry mouth can cause an increase in bacteria, so he suggested the usual brushing, flossing, and rins...

Re: DME Machine Swap for Refurb
I do not have the clinical manual, thank you for the links! My pressure is currently a range of 4-10. She said she set the EPR at its maximum, otherwise she didn't say anything about programming. The last two nights I woke up to find the Icon at a pressure of 3 when 4 was the set minimum. Not really...

Re: DME Machine Swap for Refurb
Thanks everyone! I swapped machines today. Very minimal paperwork and I have a new ResMed s9 autoset with humidifier and climate hose. I'm not sure why but I'm not asking questions either Nothing else changed, my rental charge and compliance days are still the same. I should be done with compliance ...

Odd Update Re: DME Machine Swap for Refurb
The DME changed their minds and scheduled an appointment for me to just pick up a new machine. No refurb. I'm not fighting it, I just don't understand it.

Re: Aromatherapy
I was skeptical at first and just started using the "clear" scent. It works great for me, I'm not nearly as congested. And, it helps if there are not so pleasant smells in the air

Re: Waking at 3 PM, taking clonazepam
I look at it this way, I may be in bed from 8-3 but that doesn't necessarily mean I am sleeping 8-3. When we wake up that takes energy, when we wake up in a state of anxiety, the amount of energy goes up. Anxiety causes a heightened state of awareness so part of breaking the cycle is finding a way t...

Re: DME Machine Swap for Refurb
the epr or pressure differential between inhale and exhale can make masks wiggle... I tried (and am now looking to sell) the piliaro q, and I could feel it swell on my nose when I inhaled... my ffm does the same thing... though I'm currently playing with a ps of 6, and epr only goes to a max of 3.....

Re: DME Machine Swap for Refurb
I requested the machine change, mostly for the expiratory pressure relief. I'm hoping it will help make me more comfortable using nasal pillows. I had to back them into a corner and get them to admit that they had no contract with F&P and that they use the Icon because it gives them the best profit ...

Re: Looking for TENS Unit Recommendations
I'm late to this post but I've used a TENS unit for years. My first 2 EMPI units are long retired and I now have the Select. I like the EMPI machines and have really good results relieving neck pain associated with spinal surgery. It reduced the need for pain meds and eliminated the need for physica...

DME Machine Swap for Refurb
My DME has agreed to swap my (new) Icon+ Auto for a refurbished ResMed S9 Autoset. I'm considering it depending on the warranty that accompanies the refurb.
Any thoughts? Is it worth it? Does anyone have experience with refurbished machines?

Re: Switching Machines?
if you're waking yourself up snoring then you might want to think about narrowing it up I made a similar comment and was given the "I'm a doctor and I do this for a living so stfu" look. I can't get into the sleep clinic until October, until then I am stuck with my ENT who doesn't have a lot of exp...
