ASV causes *increased* Flow Limitations?!

Post by justinjustin » Tue Jul 29, 2014 7:26 am

So I've been using an ASV for 2 weeks, after failing to feel more rested/refreshed using CPAP and APAP for months.
My diagnosis is Complex Sleep Apnea with UARS. PSG and 2 titrations with Dr. Krakow.

I haven't been able to keep using the ASV for more than a few hours (with a FFM) but I just noticed something strange....

1) My Flow Limitations are *much* higher (the bars are full 1.0) than when I viewed by CPAP data in sleepyhead. The CPAP data is deleted, sorry.
2) The Resmed S9 Adapt doesn't seem to record RERAs? Or at least display RERA data in sleepyhead?

Any thoughts on why my FL now seem worse with the ASV than CPAP? And, does this FL graph look particularly bad, or is it fairly minor?

Thanks everyone!

RERAs are specific to the Respironics machines. ResMed doesn't flag them.

Your FL graph? I am scratching my head because I went to look at my S9 Adapt report in SleepyHead and I don't have a FL graph at all.
My model Adapt is the 36007 though...the older model so maybe it didn't record FLs. I need to open up ResScan and see if it shows FLs.
It might be my SH version as I am testing something.
But yes, your FLs look a bit ugly.

I have a flow limitation graph in my ResMed 36037 Auto ASV and it did increase from when I was using my S9 VPAP Auto. I don't really worry about it cause my numbers are good and I'm sleeping good and feeling good.

Must be my older S9 Adapt model...
I don't have Flow limitation graphs in ResScan either which means my Adapt doesn't report the FL graph...I get the regular flow rate graph but not the Flow limitation graph at all. Isn't offered at all in the graph choices to see.
Would have been interesting to see though because when I was using the VPAP my FLs were essentially non existent. Really boring graphs.
