second sleep study?
second sleep study?
Hi everyone...newbie to this sight. DX with OSA two years ago. I recently started seeing a new sleep Dr due to moving. I went to see him because I have been sooo tired. My pressure was 14 when I first saw him. He changed my machine to auto-set (5-15) which did not help. I am now at 10-20, and I am still tired! He did tell me that if this pressure didn't work we would try a bipap test ( not sure if I have the right term). I am wondering if I need another sleep study done. Have any of you had to have another one done and if so, what were the results? Thanks
Re: second sleep study?
Hi, a couple of things - are you not using software to track things? You have a machine that should give you lots of info without having to ask your doctor and if you can upload a graph or two (use Photobucket and then a link) maybe we can get an idea of what's happening.

Re: second sleep study?
That data looks pretty good - low AHI for months. I suspect the reason for being tired is not because of ineffective APAP therapy.

Thanks for the reply Scott. Makes me happy to hear it isn't my therapy...time to visit my family doctor!
Re: second sleep study?
Your pressure went up and stayed up. Were you snoring? This can mean a lot!
Re: second sleep study?
I agree. It is not uncommon to get your apnea under control, and then find that there is another issue that needs to be addressed as well.kaykin75 wrote:Thanks for the reply Scott. Makes me happy to hear it isn't my therapy...time to visit my family doctor!
Re: second sleep study?
Snoring says 0.00 under details. Must be something else going on...thanks for the help!

It looks good when you are using it. It looks like most months you only use it between 1/2 and 2/3's of the nights. What is getting in your way of using it more often?

Re: second sleep study?
I was going through some major personal issues and just didn't bother using it. Bad excuse but it's the truth. Things have worked out and now I have been pretty good at wearing it almost every night this past month. One of the nights I didn't was because I ended up staying at my sister's and didn't have it with me. I also got my yearly new accessories and this makes a big difference.Nick Danger wrote:It looks good when you are using it. Re: second sleep study?
I would have to agree that you are not getting very many hours of use. I don't know if there are a lot of nights with zero hours of use or just a lot of nights with less than 4 hours.
It may be less about of the pressure, because you AHI looks good, and more about a lack of sleep. If you get too little sleep even without any events you will feel tired.
John.
PS... Was typing when you were answering. I'm not sure if 6 hours of sleep is still good. I think it is up to the individual.
