For all you youngsters, Louie was a very talented trumpet player from way back. His cheeks puffed like a blow fish.
I'm still working thru a few things with my cpap, about a month now.
My prescribe setting was low at 6 and starving me of air. Been making some adjustments to find anything below 8 will make my cheeks puff when I open my mouth. Also feel better in AM with higher setting.
Any way my thoughts are the higher setting opens my airway. Any opinions on this?
My Dr. Hasn't been involved since writing script. That's a story for another day.

Well, one of the reasons for an auto CPAP is to auto titrate.
You can select a minimum pressure and a maximum pressure. Say 6 cm you were prescribed and 10 cm (random).
After a few nights look at your data in Sleepyhead or your favorite software and notice weather you flatlined at the top or bottom of the range. Then adjust the upper and lower limits to reflect what actualy happend. Over time you will see the trend and focus your settings around what works best for you.
I personally prefer to set my machine with a range so it can make allowances for any change due to position or sleep stage or ???.

Thanks. I'm not using auto at this time. Something to consider.
I'll also look into software to help me monitor progress.

You should have a feature called EPR, letting you exhale more easily and maybe less bombastically... see if you can find it and enable it.

@Larry C: yes,Satchmo was a great jazzman. My dad played a lot of that kind of music, it lulled me to sleep every night...

@Archangel: that is indeed a picture of Dizzy Gillespie, but Satchmo's cheeks puffed out when he played, too.

I don't know what any of this has to do with this forum, but it brought back so many memories, I had to respond.

I used Louie Armstrong reference to my own cheeks puffing with use of my cpap and full face mask.
More so at lower pressure.
