Open Letter to Julie

Post by palerider » Mon Jul 28, 2014 8:59 am

Julie, I apologize for hurting your feelings. I saw some pictures of a white cat that reminded me of the one in your avatar, I did not assume that it was your cat, just as I don't assume that robysue's butterfly is her pet butterfly, or pugsy's pet deer, or chunkyfrog's pet frog.

though, of course, a cat would be a more likely pet. I certainly did not know that was a dear departed pet.

I saw a series of pictures of a pretty white cat, both awake, and then amusingly, totally zonked out asleep, and posted them, referring to them as you.

this touched a nerve, and hurt you, and for that, I am entirely sorry, it was never my intent to hurt you.

I'm sorry I reminded you of your loss, and I'm sorry I hurt you.

Actually the twin fawns in my avatar...sort of were my pet deer. I took those pictures 4 years ago. Twins who I watched grow up in my pasture and often in my back yard until they got big enough to jump the fence (can't get through/past it unless jumping) which took several months.
My new goal this summer for pictures of critters.... Deer Triplets...yep, saw them last week. Still with spots and all three identical in size and following around a single doe. Didn't have my camera with me when I spotted them early one morning while mowing before the heat set in. Sat and watched them for about 15 minutes hoping they would get used to me liked the twins did and let me get close enough eventually to get some good pics.

I saw the kitty pics you posted. Amazing how much it looked like Julie's kitty and they did give me a chuckle.
I also did not know of her kitty's passing and my heart goes out to her as I am sure yours does now that you know about it.
Anyone who knows me knows that my pets are my kids and the pain is very, very real when we lose them. I have lost 2 kitties in the past 4 months...one just 2 weeks ago.

I know you like to joke around but I can't see you knowingly wanting to cause that sort of pain to Julie.
Sometimes when we try to be funny we step in a big pile of shit and looks like you may have stepped in a bigger than usual pile unwittingly.

well, of course it is! that's why I wouldn't think that the pic was of her pet!

I just haven't figured out how she gets a mask to stay on those tiny lil nostrils.

you're right. and I was going with the (as Buford said about chunky) that's not a picture of julie's cat, that's a picture of julie'... kind of vibe... and, well, as you say, stepped in it.

This is so funny now - Goblin's laughing his head off in kitty heaven I'm sure, and Echo wants me to put his picture up (he's all black), but I'll leave things as they are for now. The pix you found (PR) were amazing actually, looked exactly like Goblin did (or does - he still seems to be hanging around asking for treats!).

And I apologize for being a grinch... there were extenuating circs last week apart from anything else, so I just ran with it all and I'm sorry so many of you got involved. It's over!

Well... seeing as you asked , Echo is actually Ecco (felis), because while he reminded me of a previous cat, I thought I'd treat him nicer if he had his own ID, so changed it (he doesn't know, but I do... now you know who you're really dealing with ).

My Pug dog is named Sarge and he is black...it's so hard to get a good picture of a hyper black pug. Heck, even if he was totally still and would pose for me he would be difficult to get a good picture of.

Oh...you all know that I have said he snores something awful....well yesterday hubby was home and in his recliner taking a nap and all of the sudden he woke up and told me that my snoring woke him up but I hadn't been asleep. Sarge was up on the back of the couch in his favorite position with his head on top of my head and yep....his snoring woke up my husband who thought it was me.

it wasn't any trouble, just a little googling to find a spot the image I had in mind was hosted.

that's an illustration from one of the Terry Pratchett Discworld books, Soul Music.

Death is Pratchett's favorite character, appearing in all his books.

the original source for my name was a book on a pale horse which opens with a scene of a guy about to kill himself, Death walks in, startles the guy, who then shoots Death in the head... after killing Death, he finds out that he now has to *become* Death, and take over those duties.

the Death in that book was like Pratchett's Death character... someone who comes along after people die, and sends their souls off to where they're headed. it's a job, someone's gotta do it, etc.

Would you mind asking PDc where my soul is headed? I mean... if I know in advance I can start to prepare. Never mind... I think I'm afraid to find out.
