Re: Waking Up at Night Due to Random Puffs of Air in my Cheek
My buckwheat/foam pillow came over-filled, and I saved the excess for later; as the hulls wear smooth over time, and some get crunched, your pillow may just need a little more fill, as your body proportions change. (Hooray) The buckwheat does last a long time. I don't expect to have to pillow shop ...

Re: Waking Up at Night Due to Random Puffs of Air in my Cheek
First of all, best wishes/congratulations on your weight loss. You may need a different bed pillow due to the changes in your body. I also wonder how old your current pillows are. You may need to change them more often now. The P10 headgear tends to stretch out between washings. Or your new skinny ...

Re: OT:Defective frog--Breast cancer---CURED!
CF, tonight was the first time I saw your story. (Most of my computer time is spent studying diet for type 2 diabetes.) I'm so sorry you had to go through this, but your sense of humor through it all really gained my admiration. I had breast cancer two years ago and endometrial cancer seven years a...

Waking Up at Night Due to Random Puffs of Air in my Cheek
I noticed a fairly recent thread talking about irritating puffs of air in a nasal mask. My problem is different, I think. I have nasal pillows and have been using them successfully since 7/14. In the last few weeks, I've been woken up in the middle of the night by a puff of air in my cheek (the chee...

It reinforces the idea of making sure your doctors are well informed about any apnea issues you have prior to any sedation.

Re: Anyone have higher AHI after general anesthesia?
my AHI has been way up since I got out of the hospital. (Typical AHI = 1; after surgery, as high as 4.5.) More likely the surgery has changed how you sleep, after all you had gastric surgery. Saying your AHI is up to 4.5 without any kind of indication of what the break down of that number is would ...

Re: Anyone have higher AHI after general anesthesia?
The anesthetic completely relaxes all your muscles and tissue, so it's very likely the reason - it can take weeks for the effects to wear off. Did you tell your MD and anesthetist about your apnea beforehand? Did you ask that Cpap be used in the recovery rm and your room (if you had one)? We all ha...

Anyone have higher AHI after general anesthesia?
Happy 4th, everyone! I had gastric sleeve surgery a few weeks ago and am healing well. Interestingly, though, my AHI has been way up since I got out of the hospital. (Typical AHI = 1; after surgery, as high as 4.5.) I realize that 4.5 isn't high for a lot of people, but it's appreciably higher than ...

Re: Headaches Caused by Headgear?
Have you tried stretching the headgear over a football (or something similar? I believe someone did this on some other mask (Pilairo?) ---before the company wised up and created an adjustable version of their headgear. Hi chunkyfrog! I did stretch it over the head of a really large white teddy bear...

Thanks, IreneN! Good to know . . .IreneN wrote:Or you could buy the Bella complete mask from cpap.com and get the return insurance for $12.30. That way, if you don't like it, you can send it back and it only cost you the return insurance price. But, of course, if you do like it, it's more expensive that way.

Re: Headaches Caused by Headgear?
another thought that might or might not be part to blame...have you adjusted the humidifier setting lately? Personally, I'm good at 2, maybe 3...but if I get up to 4 or 5, I get NASTY headaches. Great point, TL. I just checked. It was on "3," but I turned it down to 2. I wonder why humidity has tha...

Re: FFM - too much pressure on face
Most masks are made to float on your face. They should not need to be too tight. When you are trying on masks at the DME...do it while lying down with machine running at your pressure. You say "trying on masks at DME" - my DME says they don't have any masks to try. Which DME suppliers do that - is ...
