Re: Fat old guy - fifty days in

Yep, he's selling salt and bicarb at ridiculous margins - but it works for me and I am lucky enough to be able to afford my $3 a month habit. I am just so glad I found the way out of the FFM hell I'd built for myself... I only hope if I get a cold I can stomach it for a night or two. Never tried a ...

Re: Fat old guy - fifty days in

Now that's a nasal rinsing regime! CPAP-ers are keeping NeilMed in business.

Congrats on your excellent progress.

Re: Newbie started strong . . . now it's all going to hell

Great news - I would still lower the humidity a bit more with the P10. Expect any congestion to ease very quickly with the dry air. Drier air may or may not reduce congestion. While some people do get more congested with more humidity, some of us get more congested when the humidity level is too lo...

Great news - I would still lower the humidity a bit more with the P10. Expect any congestion to ease very quickly with the dry air. You can also just pull the pillows away from your nose and reseat them for a couple of seconds - it will do no harm. I find I need to use the largest pillows as they h...

Re: Newbie started strong . . . now it's all going to hell

Some of what you describe with feeling the need to open the mouth to breathe sounds like what I used to do sometimes. Never quite pinpointed a definitive cause or pattern, but haven't done it for a couple years now. I am one who needed a higher pressure to start, both with the ramp and with the low...

Re: Newbie started strong . . . now it's all going to hell

OVERNIGHT UPDATE: Phew! Using the stellar comments from last night's thread, I slept MUCH better last night!!! The major fix was raising the minimum pressure. Palerider led me to the link that enabled me to do it: http://www.ablecarehealth.com/Equipment-Manuals/SystemOne_REMstar_Auto_Domestic_Engli...

Re: Newbie started strong . . . now it's all going to hell

Make sure your P10 is dry. Water on the mesh reduces air flow. that's also a good point, and on another board, I heard reports of people having problems with the mesh getting clogged and not passing air, and needing to be scrubbed with hot water and a brush to open it back up. something to be wary ...

Re: Newbie started strong . . . now it's all going to hell

I'm pretty new at this too and I've had problems breathing myself. A lot of it for me was getting distracted by the rhythmic sounds the machine makes when I breathe. I think my brain just thought I should keep the tempo set by the machine, when in truth that "tempo" is set by my own breathing! It w...

Yes, just learned tonight. Palerider sent me a link with the keys to the kingdom. I'll let you know tomorrow how my experiment in raising my minimum pressure goes!

Re: Newbie started strong . . . now it's all going to hell

I'm erring on the side of caution, pale rider. I changed the pressure to 6.0 min rather than 5.0 min. We'll see how it works tonight {fingers crossed} . the wiser than me folks around here typically recommend make a small change, see how it goes for a few days, make another small change, till you g...

Re: Newbie started strong . . . now it's all going to hell

also, take your water tank out and check the REF number on the bottom of your machine, if you've got 5-15 pressures, then you've picked the wrong one of the many confusing selections for remstar equipment. I'm *guessing* you have a 560 model, which is the 60 series auto not the pro. Right again. I ...

Re: Newbie started strong . . . now it's all going to hell

BTW, if I do need to increase the starting pressure from 5 to 6, can I do that myself? I'd assumed only the DME could do it. it's easy... all the instructions they have are in here: http://www.ablecarehealth.com/Equipment-Manuals/SystemOne_REMstar_Auto_Domestic_English_Provider_Manual.pdf if your r...

Re: Newbie started strong . . . now it's all going to hell

how old is your mask? could it be that it's starting to break down from use, and needs the pillow portion replaced? I tried the p10 last night for the first time, and I felt like I couldn't breathe enough air in. I haven't had issues with the other masks I have (Swift FX and 2 FFMs), just this one....
