new humidifier not working

Post by sstat01 » Fri Jul 25, 2014 2:14 am

I just purchased a Resmed Hi4 humidifier replacement and its not working. The problem is I don't know if its the unit or the cpap machine since the last one I purchased was only 3 years ago. How can I tell?

What are the symptoms? What specifically is it doing and/or not doing? Are you getting air blowing into the mask from the hose?

The reason I ask is because the humidifier is a passive object and actually does nothing. Air is forced into it from the machine and, because the humidifier is air-tight, the forced air exits it into the hose. While the air is passing through the humidifier some of the water in it incidentally evaporates, thus moistening the air your finally breath. If, for example, the cover's gasket is missing or not fitting properly, enough air may not be forced into the hose and thus into the mask. If the ambient humidity in your bedroom is quite high, very little of the water will be used during the night. If the humidifier's heater is not working, the air you breath might feel cool.

So what are the symptoms of "its not working"?
