Which one to pick?
AirFit F10 by ResMed
Simplus by Fisher & Paykel
Amara by Philips Respironics

Thanks in advance!

Airfit F10. It's quickly becoming cpap.com's most popular full face mask. The lady said they couldn't keep them on the shelf. It's light-weight and no forehead piece.

I haven't used the Airfit, but the Simplus is absolutely wonderful - I used a Mirage Quattro for over 5 years before I switched and fought leaks all the time. I just wrote a post about how I love the Simplus - it is seriously a terrific mask.

Not really the answer you want to hear but; the one that fits you best. All 3 of those are good masks.

Fresh newbie so take this with a note. I liked the FP Simplus and the Resmed F10 of all the FF's I tried 2 days ago for both fit and comfort (relative of course). There were a bunch of others, not sure about the models. It was all a blur at the DME. I do know that I didn't try the Phillips so can't say anything about that one. DME said Simplus was a big favorite of customers. I spied the only F10 they had in the whole place and took it home.

I plan on adding the Simplus to the F10 currently in use for a rotation. I'm not sure about this, but someone with greater knowledge may comment. I think I tried another Resmed "air" model that used the same cushion and head piece as the F10 but with a different frame. If this is the case, might be a less costly way to add another choice to the home rotation. I'm assuming a frame is some savings over the whole kit, but...assuming here.

My opinion early in the game is to get as many masks in "house" as possible at the lowest possible cost.

Best,

Mike

The F10 and the Resmed Quattro use the same cushion/pillows - I have both. 4 sizes in range I think. The Quattro is more stable but the F10 is lighter (so how much do you move?) - but I've tried to get away from FFMs due to claustrophobia problems... both work better with a cut out pillow if you side sleep.

My hubby uses the AirFit F10 & loves it. No forehead piece & with the right size, seems to be fast becoming very popular. Now remember, no one mask works for everyone since every face is different, but its a great mask to try.

Whichever one you can try one and at least get a feel for it being likely to work for you, best case is under your max pressure and while lying down. I personally hate forehead supports, so out of the main manufacturers that leaves the Airfit F10 and Quattro FX (although there are a few other options). I haven't had a chance to try the Airfit F10 yet (its very new but very well reviewed) but the Quattro FX works very well for me. The reviews and photos on CPAP.com are also quite helpful. I was able to rule-out many masks that way.

I was annoyed my DME didn't have any samples of masks out...they would have to open a new package just to show you a mask, so of course they only want to do that if its something you are likely to take home. If you hold it in your hands or even just look at good photos, it can be easy to see potential trouble spots with the mask and/or headgear design.

I had an incompetent tech for my first fitting. Instead of trying 7 masks on me that didn't fit what I was asking for and sending me home with the best of the worst, she should have just referred me to their other main location which had a full mask selection, including something that would actually work for me. They didn't have any full face masks without forehead supports in stock. When I told my doctor she was shocked. At the other main location I asked for the Quattro FX and didn't even see the need to try anything else on. And due to their dumb policy, I'll end up having to pay my co-insurance for both masks too, since my insurance paid the claims for both masks (most places swap it for free, but since my insurance would cover it, they don't). Good luck! Best wishes.

Minor correction

The Quattro AIR and the F10 have the same cushions...

The standard Quattro does not use the same cushion
