Routing hose up = best night so far

Post by gdgiles » Thu Jul 24, 2014 8:34 am

My Aloha pillow has a small piece of velcro that allows me to route the hose from the nasal pillow straight up my face to not quite the top of my head but just forward of that. What a difference! My normal sleep pattern is to get about 2 hours, wake up, adjust pillow, hose, body, and go back to sleep for another 2 hours, then repeat, all night. But often it's the hose or nasal pillow that wakes me up and quite often it's a sore nose that makes me get up. No sore nose this morning! The nasal pillow did not slip out of position ONCE all night! Very comfortable for sleeping on your side like I do. Wish I'd tried this earlier.

It took me a month or so to be able to sleep through the night without constant readjustment. It's a good feeling to finally get the hose position figured out. So glad you have figured it out! Keep it up!

I just ordered a TAP PAP mask that I hope will provide this type of freedom and improve things for me like you're experiencing.

Take it one step further... get a hose hanger (or devise your own). A hose hanger gets the hose completely outta' the way. When I was curious about a hose hanger, I was skeptical. After the first night of using one, I kicked myself for not getting one sooner. Why folks fuss with the hose all night is beyond me.

My home-made hose levitation looks a bit like someone locked Rube Goldberg in the bedroom for an afternoon.
Rube may be cranky, but I love the result.

I made my hose hanger shortly after I started APAP. Used a wire coat hanger (aided by Rube Goldburg) and hung it from the cabinet door handle above my head in my RV.
When we bought a house 1.5 years ago I no longer have that cabinet or door handle. My original hose hanger no longer works. I need to go find Rube and make him fix it.

you could mount a cabinet door on the wall over the bed...

I like the Cozy Hose BOSS a lot. It uses the 3M Command strips to hold it to the wall and they are just da bomb.

Duct tape a scrunchy (or other elastic loop) above your head on the wall or headboard. Run the hose through the scrunchy. This is very easy to travel with, too.

I have a clamp light over my head on the bed frame.

I lay the hose over the gooseneck portion if I want to run the hose overhead.

I don't need to do it some nights. Depends on congestion.

assuming you must all be side or stomach sleepers?

i sleep on my back only but have never had any of the problems I keep seeing mentioned here, other than one night putting it on the wrong shelf when I moved into a different bedroom in my home so as to get a better draft thru.......but that was my fault.

Good to know should I ever sleep on my stomach but for the life of me I can't figure out how any female can sleep that way.............

I was a devoted stomach sleeper from childhood until my first pregnancy advanced so far that it felt like sleeping on a watermelon. I switched to my side, but still twisted so my lower half was sort of still down facing, lol. After giving birth, flipped right back onto my belly. Did this after 3 kids. Only after the fourth, when I used to nurse a lot while lying down, did I get used to sleeping in any position other than my belly. And I'm rather over-endowed. It was still always my favorite.
