Machine pulled down to the floor

Post by Chelle25 » Thu Jul 24, 2014 6:29 am

Anyone ever pull their machine down to the floor while sleeping? About my first week on it this happened to me. I woke up in a frantic when I pulled it down from the night stand in my sleep.

I now have it tied down to a glass table using my belt from my robe. So far so good.

Try Velcro, or you might try a belt from a bathrobe...lol. What ever works, right.

A hose hanger fixed my problem of getting "wound up" in the hose.

That happened to me once... it landed right side up. I didn't tie it down or anything. I figured it was a fluke, and if it happened again I knew I would have to do something about it. Hasn't happened since.

Plan ahead.

Think what you'll do if it ever falls to the floor. When you pick it up, be sure to pick it up with the blower unit side up so that any spilled water will tend to drain away from the blower unit. It might help prevent further damage.

Plan ahead even better and make sure you can't drag it off the table. Tie it down, tie down the hose, put it in a drawer, etc.

I haven't done a "gravity check" with my machine yet, knock on wood...my aunt, however, did one recently. I made her a hose cozy, and she loves it, but then forgot that the hose was running over her blankets since she no longer felt the cold plastic....and when she flipped the comforter over to get out of bed, found that gravity isn't just a good idea...It's the LAW. Talk about a fast wake up call.
On the upside, though...her machine still works, and lesson learned.

I wouldn't put any machine on top of a glass table; I have mine on top of a small wood table next to my bed and my machine sits on top of 2 mouse pads; the mouse pads have worked great for many years; my machine has not moved an inch since I started using them. I replace the mouse pads every 2 years.

There is a spongy material that comes in a roll. I think its original purpose is to line the bottom of kitchen cabinets, but I use it for everything. If you cut a piece the size of your machine it will anchor it to anything (wood, glass, metal etc). Be careful, if you ever get it wet it can get gooey & leave a hard-to-remove residue on wood. Won't actually damage it, but it does take some elbow grease to remove.

Keep the machine on the floor or as low as possible and it won't fall from there.

btw - I wouldn't use anything longer than an 8ft hose as your machine can start missing events, resulting in what you think is a lower AHI but is just not scoring events it can no longer sense.

Once I got it pretty sideways on the nightstand so I got some clear sticky dots to affix to the underside so I didn't have to worry about something worse happening. They come off easily without residue and are invisible but make it difficult to move the machine. Pretty nice fix for under $5. Hose management might also help.
