Still falling asleep at work!
I have been on a CPAP machine since May 27th 2014 I started off with what is called the brick, which I did not like. I now have the S9 Elite, it's a much better machine my pressure is set to 10, I went to the doctor he states all my numbers are good and the machine is doing what it's supposed to, but I still fall asleep at work everyday, it so frustrating, any suggestions or similar experiences?

Re: Still falling asleep at work!
how many hours do you sleep usually?
what were your Sleep test numbers? Mild, Moderate or Severe ?
How have you been adjusting to CPAP?
For some people it takes a few months to start to feel the benefits of therapy

You can install software and look at all the numbers yourself to see what is happening during the night. Free open source software is called Sleepyhead is available from one of our members. You can then post the graphs here and get help reading them.
You could also ask for blood test for thyroid issues and other things which cause sleepyness.

I get about 7 hours of sleep but do hate the mask I have its the mirage quarto full face, when I did my sleep study they told me I quit breathing 26 times an hour, I tried to attach a picture of my graphs the doctors printed but I couldn't figure it out from my phone. I used to get severe headaches in the morning when I woke up, I don't get those anymore

I also had the mirage quattro when I started out, and I hated it. I not only woke up repeatedly, but my AHI was higher than it is now that I've switched to swift fx for her (pillows instead of full face like quattro). The absence of headaches also happened for me, and it's a good indicator that things are working as they should. I get 7-8 hours of sleep per night and am still tired most days. However, I was undiagnosed for who knows how many years (at least two that I know of). So I had a chronic, ongoing sleep deficit that is going to take time to correct.lsigler0001 wrote:I get about 7 hours of sleep but do hate the mask I have its the mirage quarto full face, when I did my sleep study they told me I quit breathing 26 times an hour, I tried to attach a picture of my graphs the doctors printed but I couldn't figure it out from my phone. That said, you may want to have a full thyroid panel done. My thyroid is malfunctioning - it appears at this very moment that it is overactive, but it is still flipping back and forth as the thyroid often does when it is in its "death throes" before stopping altogether. My doctor is not currently treating my thyroid issues because it is considered "sub-clinical" and not the point of requiring treatment. It is, however, to the point of making me somewhat symptomatic. I plan to give it another couple of months on cpap to see if my daytime alertness and tiredness get better, and also retest my thyroid. I plan to push for treatment at that time. I DO know that the therapy is helping my body be healthier, though, because of significant drops in my blood pressure and insulin resistance, so I'm going to continue with it even if I never feel super awake, lol.
