Hello all,
I am new to this site but have been using a Phillips Remstar Auto A Flex for approximately two years. This is after a sleep study that last only an hour said that I had 90 events in the one hour I was able to sleep there. I have been able to access the data from Sleepy Head and the results are below. I am trying to interpret the data, can anyone assist so i can understand how severe my apnea is?
For the last year:
AHI=1.32
Average pressure=5.71
90% pressure=7.2
Interpreting MY CPAP Data
Re: Interpreting MY CPAP Data
If 1.32 is your average AHI for the whole year you're doing great. Successful treatment is considered to be an AHI of less than 5.
You may already know this, but your pressure needs don't have anything to do with the severity of your apnea. You have severe apnea but it's successfully controlled with fairly low pressure(s). A person can have very mild apnea (low AHI during their sleep study) and need a higher pressure to keep the airway from collapsing. With sleep apnea, a person's required pressure is determined by various anatomical features -- i.e., how much pressure is needed to hold the airway open. Severity is just based on how many apnea events one has per hour, on average.
Welcome -- how about registering and posting your equipment? That way if you want more feedback we'll be better able to help.
