Sleeyhead Doesn't Update Statistics

Post by GrandmaMouse » Tue Jul 22, 2014 5:30 pm

I am new to CPAP and to Sleepyhead. I've been using my CPAP since May. I still really dislike the CPAP for a variety of reasons. But I'm getting used to it. I only recently discovered Sleepyhead. I was surprised when I first installed it that it recoreded all my information back to April. It has been great but now it won't update my statistics and is stuck on June 20. I'd really like to know how I'm doing because my insurance won't pay if I don't get 4 plus hours each night. But for two nights straight I have gotten in less than 3 hours! I'm trying to figure out what's happening because my average has been 5.6 hours. This morning I woke up with the machine running but the mask off! I don't remember pulling the mask off so I must have done this in my sleep. Anyway, can anybody help me figure this out? How do I get Sleepyhead to record my statistics again and what happens when the mask is off but the machine is still running? I don't want to damage my machine because it is rented.
Thanks for any help or feedback anyone can offer.

GrandmaMouse, don't worry about when the mask is off... the machine will record the total number of hours you used the machine with the mask on. As for updating each day, Sleepyhead does not automatically load the new information; you need to tell it to do that. Open Sleepyhead, then insert the SD card. Next, on the right side of the Sleepyhead Screen you should see a horizontal row of buttons, starting at the top... Statistics, Daily, Overview, Oximetry, Import and Help. Click on the Red box with black square that is right above Import, wait a bit and a box will open Do you want to import from this folder? It will name a folder, which is probably F, and you can click on yes, then wait for it to import the new data... it may take a little bit, depending on your operating system and the version of sleepyhead that you are using. If questions about importing, please report back in this thread, letting us know what operating system you are using (Mac, Windows 7, Windows 8 etc.) and which version of Sleepyhead... someone will be along to help you.

What version of SH? On what kind of a computer? And what kind of a PAP machine?

All that is needed to try to help figure out your SH problem.
I'd really like to know how I'm doing because my insurance won't pay if I don't get 4 plus hours each night. But for two nights straight I have gotten in less than 3 hours! Check directly with your insurance company about its compliance rules. Most require something like 4+ hours on 70% of the nights in one 30-day period. And if your treating physician is aware of severe problems with compliance, but believes you are making a sincere effort to use the machine, he/she can also send a letter to the insurance company explaining the situation and that can be enough to get you an extra grace period.
Anyway, can anybody help me figure this out? How do I get Sleepyhead to record my statistics again
We need to know what version of SleepyHead, what kind of computer, and what PAP machine you are using before we can say anything useful.
and what happens when the mask is off but the machine is still running? I don't want to damage my machine because it is rented.
The machine itself will not be damaged by running without you having the mask on.

However, the machine WILL (correctly) distinguish between blower hours (the machine is on and blowing air) and therapy hours (the machine is on, blowing air, and detecting a breathing pattern). Compliance is based on therapy hours, not blower hours.

How this difference between blower and therapy hours will be reflected in the data the DME looks at will depend on the type of PAP used.

Thank you robysue for you taking enough time to be interested enough to try to help me. I am using SH version v.0.9.5
I use HP Pavilion laptop computer.
My CPAP machine is REMstar Auto System One 6.0 series.

I am also puzzled as to why I wake up with the machine running and the mask thrown off. Either I am pulling it off in my sleep or it is somehow slipping off because I don't remember pulling it off. Maybe it's too big or loose or something? Is that even possible? It sounds like a silly question for me to ask but honestly I wish there was a remedy for that. I use the nasal pillow mask. (I think that's what it's called)
