Fit life Total Face Mask
I heard the FedEx truck pull up and knew what was in it. My new extra large Fit Life Total Face mask. I ordered the regular large size based on their sizing chart, tried it for a few nights and it left marks on the sides of my face and it felt like it was crushing my cheeks. The extra large fits perfectly and feels like a natural extension of my face, if you can imagine that. It's so wonderfully comfortable! And no leaks, period! I have been cutting the sleeves off of the v-neck tee shirts I wear, and cut an oval-ish triangular hole in the now cut off sleeve material and use that as a head sock. I pull it over my head, with the hole open for my eyes and nose, and that works like a mask liner and strap cover at the same time and leaves the top of my head exposed so it doesn't trap heat. The combination works like a charm!!!! Whoooo Hooo! Yea!!!! Yippee! Ok, excitement over, time for some outpatient back surgery, gotta go. For those that were wondering about the fit life total face mask.....thought I would take a minute to post my experiences...

Re: Fit life Total Face Mask
Might be that some of your pain comes from older straps. At least, I am sure that the Medicare replacement schedule of six months for straps is waaay too long. Probably I get pain within three months. I suspect the pain may return as the mask straps of the new XL FitLife get older. Also, did you get the new mask straps that have a chin strap built onto them. While it is the new mask strap, I keep getting the older straps, without the built in chin strap. Having the right size mask is a good thing.
Some of us, who have a FitLife mask, place the point of the mask below our chin, which gives less side to side pressure. I also am sure that my Hose management system helps me to keep my hose from pulling on the mask, causing leaks.
As I am sure you already know, you need to keep clear the outgoing vent section of the mask, to clear CO2 from under the mask. For those who are trying this mask for the first time; This mask has a really large approved leak level to clear CO2 from under the large size of the mask. The nozzle has is open around the edges, to allow for the needed approved leak. The only leak the individual needs to be concerned with is around the outside edge of the mask.
For the poster. You might add to your routine: When you get up in the morning, after you shave, scrub your face with a clean wash rag (LOOFA is essentially an abrasive to clear off older skin cells), then before you dry your face, put some good skin oil on your face. Those strap marks might disappear entirely. Of course, you might wash the oil off your face before you put the mask on at the end of the day, as these oils are usually bad for silicon on the mask. I also sometimes, shave before I go to sleep, as even one beard hair pressing back on my face is not fun, and will be the focus for irritation after several hours.

Re: Fit life Total Face Mask
I have used the Fitlife Total mask for several years. I have used lotions for my cheeks and the other detectives at work said the marks were for... *how can I say this gently? me sucking the "backside of the boss" I told people I went to sleep on a hot BBQ grill. Try the padacheek liner. Karen makes one especially for the mask. It's a great mask... though I only use it as a backup... I still see as my "long lost friend"... not really lost... just in the drawer.

Hey, I like this idea for my AirFit F10 mask! It would serve as a strap liner for the stiff arms that cover my cheeks. Creativity for all of us, I think, is a good idea. Thanks for that idea, islandboy!

Re: Fit life Total Face Mask
If anyone reading this has had similar sizing issues, I've got a very very lightly used Fit Life XL that is too big that I'd be happy to trade for a similarly lightly used Fit Life size Large! (XL headgear never used since I had to swap it out for the smaller size).

I am very happy you are having success with this mask.
I really liked it alot but no matter what I did, I couldn't control the leaks due to the large size being too big for my face. Tried the small size which didn't fit. Too bad, they didn't make a medium size but what can you do?
Much continued success.
