Do Personal Sleep Monitors Work?

Post by 49er » Sun Jul 20, 2014 3:33 am

I thought this article by a sleep specialist was very interesting in light of the fact that some people on this board are interested in monitoring their sleep with some type of device. This guy liked the Zeo but didn't want to review it since it is no longer in production. He seemed to like the Basic Chrome, the best for accuracy although he had good things to say about alot of the devices.

Super interesting article. It looks as if the Basis Chrome would be the one of choice for accuracy and cost.
Thanks for pointing this out.

I've been woefully ignorant of all these new sleep monitoring devices. This a a nice primer to bring everyone up to date. I'm not buying any of them but I don't think it will be too long until we see a really great sleep monitor (hopefully it will last in the marketplace longer than the Zeo).

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

The basis chrome looked really interesting, so I ordered 1 and recieved it yesterday... It is not perfect, like the time on the watch and the time on the website do not match, it is an hour off... so, my watch said I went asleep at 1143 and the website says 1043... other than that, it is pretty interesting, now I just have to figure out how to use the info.... It did pick up when I woke up and went back to sleep, it took a little longer to pick up when I went back to sleep....

I have some more data and its pretty kewl.. It does coincide with what my machine data has and also how I feel the next day... As my AHI goes down it senses I slept better... this is the data for the last 2 days.. This morning was really weird, I woke up to my alarm clock, that has not happened in ages...

I researched these on Consumer Reports as I was interested in getting one. The user has to have access to Apple or Android products to access the software app. I have neither, my cell phone and laptop both have Windows 8, courtesy of Bill Gates. So, I will stick to Sleepyhead and my trusty pedometer instead.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

You only need a computer with USB on it to update the website and get the data... I wish it had an app like SH.... they are suppose to be working on 1..
