Be firm and persistent but also be polite (if possible).

OSA is not something that generally heals its self so I would assume the person that said you didn't have any apnea events didn't know what they were talking about. Doctors can be difficult. You need for the "official" comments from your doctor.

In the meantime you may find you have better sleep if you can sleep on your side rather than on your back.

Go and sit in the doctor's office until the DOCTOR tells you you don't have apnea. And that you have NO other related conditions. And that he'll do a thyroid test along with other bloodwork to see what you do have, if anything, and that he's referring you to a pulmonologist or neurologist to find out what IS going on. And don't leave til you get answers. Or get a new doctor.

First, I like your avatar!

A sleep study will study one night. If the result is that you DO NOT have OSA and your husband is a witness to it; then you likely have OSA. I would believe a witness faster than a study. A study is a study for one night, and you are at the mercy of the competence of others. Your husband obviously knows what OSA is and how snoring is supposed to sound when it is “normal” snoring. Read about the symptoms of OSA and UARS. Go see your doctor; bring your husband. Get a prescription for a machine. Go to CPAP.com if you’re in the US. Get a machine. Rent a machine or borrow one.

I never had a study of any kind. I got a machine that had good data recovery. It indicated that I had an AHI of 3.8 with pressure hitting 8 or more. I feel much better with CPAP. If that’s not enough I don’t know what is. Do not tolerate the CPAP mafia. If you don’t have OSA your readings on your machine will make that obvious after a few days of use. You might lose some money for a machine that you don’t need. But you likely already know you have OSA. Certainly your husband knows you have OSA. Read the about the symptoms.

You were obviously diagnosed with OSA in 2005 and have an ancient machine.
Have you been compliant?
Does your machine still work?
You need to track down the doctor that is supposed to be evaluating your sleep study and camp out in his office until you have a copy of the study in your hands and an explanation of what it says.
Take that to your primary doc and have him provide a prescription for the exact new machine you want.
Call your insurance company and determine which DNEs are in network, and if they will reimburse you for online purchase.

You must take charge and demand the answers you are legally entitled to.

Good luck. Come back here for advice when you get the report and your new equipment.

I think a call to your insurance to report the substandard setting of where the sleep study was done is also in order.

I think they should be called 'anti-sleep' studies.

There is no excuse, considering what they charge.
Insurance should make the lab eat the cost of a failed study that was THEIR FAULT.

I would get online and find a nice new to you machine. If you need a prescription anyone who can write a prescription can do it.
