I cannot get the Sleepy Head program to work

Post by iPraiseHim » Fri Jul 04, 2014 10:18 pm

I cannot get the Sleepyhead program to work.
I have downloaded the file SleepyHead-20140623-Win32-0.9.6-testbuild-Qt5.3.0-BrokenGL-WinXP-MinGW-1.zip several times.
I unzipped it with the 7Zip program into its own folder.

When I run the extracted Sleep head program it say QT5Core.dll is missing from my computer. Yet I can see the file in the folder.

I am stumped. What do I do next?

I operate a windows 8.0 os with a fire fox browser.

I would really like to use this program.
please any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank you

Even if you get it to download properly a notice comes up that says it is test software and some of the software may not work yet

That should not be happening. Is the Qt5Core.dll file inside the same folder as the SleepyHead.exe executable?

SleepyHead.exe needs to live inside the folder with all it's plugins and DLL's.. If you want a desktop link, you need to right click on SleepyHead.exe, then create a shortcut, then drag the shortcut outside to your desktop/menu/wherever.

I have a shortcut on my desktop but that message still comes up across the top of the page. It is highlighted in Red

Um, that message is intentional and part of the program.. it's not an error, it's a reminder you are running pre-release version.

Earlier versions showed it too, just not in red..

I still get the same message QT5Core.dll missing.

1) I downloaded the ZIP file

2) I extracted the entire folder before I opened it.

3) I opened the folder and double clicked on Sleepyhead.exe

4) I still get the Qt5Core.dll missing message. What am I doing wrong? I have unzipped other zip files with no problem.

5) Where am I going wrong? I also tried the other two suggestions with the same result. I know it works for others so what is my problem?

Can you show me the unzipped folder contents where you are clicking on the SleepyHead application.exe file?
So that I can see exactly which folder you are in when you are clicking on the application.exe file?
Don't know about inserting images? Explained here
Screen shot thread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=81072&p=737779#p737779

You should be inside a folder with around 40 (or more depending on which SH version) files and folders in it and the SleepyHead application.exe file that you should be clicking on to open is the very last file in the long list of files within that folder.

Are you finding and clicking on this file to open/launch SleepyHead? Yours may have a different date as this is an old image the the application.exe file used to open SH is always the last file in the folder and my current version has 47 items in that main folder.

Yes.
Solution in this thread right above your post.
If that doesn't work then you need to tell us exactly what is happening at any messages that you are seeing along with which Sleepyhead version and what the operating system is on your computer.

I was having the same problem because I was trying to load from the 7Zip file without extracting to another folder. Once this was done it worked. Oops sorry, I see you did that. Maybe it will help someone else.
