How does the Breeze SleepGear CPAP Mask feel?

Post by 4betterO2 » Wed Apr 30, 2014 1:27 pm

I'd like to buy the
Breeze SleepGear CPAP Mask with ONE set of Nasal Pillows
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/purita ... rface.html.
Can you tell me how it feels?
How easily adjustable is the angle at which the pillows enter the nostrils?
I really like the fact that there is no strap across the face, but I'm wondering how does it stay in place if you sleep on your side, and when you change and roll over to the other side etc.?
Does the nose piece feel like it is wedging against the septum of your nose?
what is the noise level when there is little leakage, and when there is real leakage?
If/when it leaks, can you readjust its position easily to stop the leakage?
Your comments will be greatly appreciated: In my case it won't be covered by insurance, so I need to buy it online and can't try it on.

Giving your post a bump.

Not a large number of Breeze users now on the forum to draw from their experience. So you may have to keep bumping up your thread in hopes of someone who has used this mask will see it. This is one nasal pillow mask that I have never tried so I can't offer much help.

If you really want to try it...
What I would suggest is that you bit the bullet and purchase the return insurance for this mask. It's a little less than $19 and that way if you hate it you can get your money back (less the cost of the insurance).

I did get a chance to try the Headrest which was similar and I use the Tap Pap now. I think you will be surprised at how stable the headgear is.

I hear that the Breeze may be slated for going out of production..should you try it and love it...be sure to stock up on it.

4betterO2 ,
i used the Breeze for 6 months or so after the headrest was declared no longer available #*^>/, sorry. The headrest was the cats meow for me, or so i thought. anyways,if i were you i wouldn't get involved with the breeze as we have learned it too will be extinct in the near future. for side sleeping it's pretty comfortable. if you try and switch to your back, you have that chunk of plastic behind your head that can move and dislodge pillows & just plain does not feel good. if you like the nose pillows & can't tolerate the bigger masks because of facial hair / leaks. ...i went to the air fit P 10 .. my leak data is slightly better than while on the breeze & the P 10 is the lightest least invasive i have tried yet. Also is the easiest to maintain !
Good Luck !
tim

Thanks for all your suggestions. I did not know about the insurance: good idea!

Seems to me the Tap Pap has no headgear? or were you talking about the Headrest gear?

I looked at it: seems it is kind of like this one:
Opus 360 Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/fisher ... -Mask.html
I use the Opus and it does not do well for me, the angle for the pillows is not adjustable and I do not get as much air flow as I should expect.
It is adjustable on the Breeze, correct?
Also big problem with the pillows on the Opus, they have a sort of ridge around the base which somehow hits on my face and hurts after a while. Seems lots of brands have a similar design.
On the other hand I did see the pillows for the Breeze in a store and they were soft-contoured, looked very comfortable.
How did they feel? (I guess that if I like the Breeze I should especially stock up on its pillows!)

I used the Breeze in my early year or two of treatment. It did fine for me, but trying other masks let me know it wasn't my favorite, largely due to the headpiece in back. But if I had to use it again, I'd be ok with it. I used the Headrest for several years, and just last year when mine wore out and it was discontinued, I switched to the Tap Pap. No need for headgear. That's a big deal for someone who gets hot easily and is easily irritated by things touching my head. The Tap Pap isn't for everyone - one has to meet certain dental criteria. It's good to ask around, but you're going to find some members love masks that others love to hate. I came on here and complained about a mask used on me at a sleep study and thought I'd never be able to successfully use CPAP if that mask was my only option. Another member posted and said it had been their salvation. Go figure. Good luck in your quest for mask nirvana.

No, not so much the headgear but the way the short hose and nasal pillow attachment thing comes up/down over the forehead.
For ease is side to side movements it was/is very stable.....my Tap Pap and the Headrest that I tried. I toss and turn a lot...lots of side sleeping along with some time on my back.
The Tap Pap nasal pillows never move. The Headrest experiment was winter before last. I used it for about a week I think it was.
It was surprisingly comfortable and didn't move around either with my tossing and turning.
So I was just saying that those 2 masks were similar in design to the Breeze as to how the nasal pillows are placed.

I did NOT know about the back strap buckle thing on the Breeze that was mentioned by someone as being a potential problem when laying on your back. That would be a deal breaker for me. While I try to avoid back sleeping because it makes my back hurt more...I do sleep on my back sometimes so I wouldn't want anything to poke the back of my head.

I have this personal preference for "less on my face and head" and this was the main reason I never tried the Breeze and the Headrest 5 years ago when I first started therapy and was trying every nasal pillow mask out there just because I could. They just looked too scary to me The Headrest that I tried was donated a while back by someone or I wouldn't have tried it. It has since gone to a permanent home where it is greatly appreciated. If the Breeze had been donated...I would have tried it but I was never interested in it enough to want to fork over my money for it.

Thanks - what I would like to know is, does it wedge against the center of the nose (septum) or against the nostrils, when you turn your head? Does it make you feel pressure against your nose inside? I'm trying to find out how it feels with the pillows inside the nose, and how it manages to keep itself in place, when you turn? Since it does not have any sidestraps to anchor it externally, to the center of your face?

I still use my old Breeze mask had it years and like it. I have added a slightly
stretchy, narrow-ish, strip of cloth which I tie into the front slider slots and wear
it round the back of my head as a stabilizer. looking at it as I write I can't
see that it would do much though!
However, I love my Breeze, l also use a Comfort lite which I like and it's good to have
a spare around just in case.

re-read your questions so will elaborate, the nasal pillows just fit on the outside of your nostrils and the tapered part
just inside the nostril - no pressure, 3 sizes available to get best fit for nostril size. with the Breeze and the CL2 you
do not have any straps across your face - which is my preference. look the various masks up on the cpap.com sales site,
they also have comments made by previous buyers.

I used the Breeze nasal pillow mask for almost ten years, and I loved it. I am a 100% side sleeper, so there was nothing on either side of my face - very comfortable, no lines on my face in the morning. Quick and easy to take on and off. I really liked how the hose goes over the back of my head, totally out of my face. Unfortunately I developed mouth breathing, and unsuccessfully tried every chin strap with no avail and I am now using a full-face mask.
