Power Cord and External Power Supply for the Everest Series

Post by telly » Fri Apr 25, 2014 8:38 pm

Hi,
The plug for my AEIOMed Everest 2 Travel CPAP is munched. I have a lot invested in this machine with the battery and it is barely used. Since the company is kaput, I cannot find a replacement power cable since the connector is such an odd bird.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? I have looked all over the net and have had no luck. If anyone has one lying around (just need the part with the plug that connects to the machine), could you help me out?

I'm looking for this part, specifically: http://bit.ly/1k3Oago

Thanks,
telly

You might try your local Radio Shack. They have helped me match up power supplies for different items. If they don't have one they maybe able to order it for you.

Thanks for the idea, Bill. The problem with the connector is that it is a strange one. I don't think Radio Shack would have something like that but I'll check. In the mean time, not even eBay has something like this. My hope is with the community. Hopefully, someone has one lying around. The company stopped making equipment around 4 years ago.

Best,

This repair facility has done repairs for some members...you might see if they have any suggestions.

I think I found my answer from a previous previous post: viewtopic/t97998/Aeromed-everest-2.html
Thanks to JDS74 for the great info. There appears to be an adapter available for this machine.

BTW, I heard that the AEIOmed Everest warehouse burned down and the business never restarted. Now we know why we don't see replacement parts any longer.

Cheers,
Telly

Telly,

You are entirely welcome.
Sometimes I get carried away on quests and actually find useful things.

Great JDS74.

BTW, I got the AEIOmed Polaris converter so I can hook up a 12V battery to the CPAP. Only seems to work for a couple of hours so while I wait for the adapter to arrive, I was planning on using this. Disheartened that it's not working for me. It doesn't completely die, just operates at about 25% of its normal power. Blower turns on and off. Did I get the wrong battery? Does anyone know why this one is not working?

Maybe my battery has the wrong amperage? Hmmm.

Which end is munched? If it is the end that plugs into the wall that should be an easy repair any electrician can handle even a high school niece or nephew might be able to help.

The "Spypoint 12-Volt 7.0 AH Rechargeable Battery and AC Charger" you bought is not going to last the night, it's way too small at 7AH. You can get a larger battery at Walmart or an auto parts store. You can research the battery discussion threads here but even a car jump starter should work for that machine if you have the DC cord.

Hello,
I wish it was that end. It's the business end that plugs into the machine. Another user located the (very hard to find) replacement for it for me the other day. I'll get it on Wednesday.

Thanks for your thoughts. I thought I would be OK because the original battery for the AEIOmed unit is only 6 amps. I will research the boards and see what others have used successfully. I live in San Francisco, and we don't have Walmart (outlawed perhaps? ) so I'll check out the auto parts store. You are confirming what I suspect. The battery is not powerful enough. Thanks!

Telly

How long did that battery last? You did charge the new battery for a day or more, right?

Seemed to last about 3.5 hours.

I'm still a day away from getting my replacement power supply for the AEIOmed, and my regular Respironics rig isn't working right either (also a power supply issue), so last night I was faced with not getting any CPAP therapy.

So after two days of only 3.5 hrs of CPAP therapy, I felt very, very tired all day yesterday. I needed my CPAP last night, so what did I do?

I cannibalized the plug of my AEIO integrated battery (which I can't charge up anyway) and spliced it onto my original power supply. It worked!

After I receive my new power supply tomorrow (hopefully it will work), I can splice the connector back on to the AEIO battery. Not sure what I'll do with the Spypoint battery, but at least now I have the hardware to charge up my integrated AEIO battery from my car, so camping is now a possibility.

Glad I'm back with a working CPAP again. Now I need to send my Respironics box to get repaired.

Cool. The power supply arrived today. I'll test it out tonight and report back.
