Bipap interfering with phones

Post by FrustratedBipapUser3 » Thu Apr 24, 2014 1:35 pm

My Bipap is connecting to phone lines somewhere. I had them switch machines, but it is still happening and the company denies it is there fault. I hear people talking and they are very upset about the noise and the disruption to their service. They have cursed me and even used airhorns. I don't know what to do about this. The people servicing my machiner are no help. I don't think they believe me. Any ideas?

You could start by registering and then tell us where you're located and what phone service you have and where in relation to the phone the PAP machine is and if you're using wireless phones and if it's landline service or cellular service that's being interfered with, and if the PAP unit has a modem attached, etc. etc..

I have land lines from Comcast and live in Portland Oregon. I do not know the people whose phones are being interfered with. I took out the phone in the bedroom, but do have portable phones in the rest of the house.
I just know they have asked me to hang up so they can use their phone. There are several different people I have heard, but one primarily is an older woman who does not understand why someone is doing this to her.

Have you tries pulling the plug on your machine to see if this still happens? The bipap does not send out signals. I think it's the cordless phones. Is there a way to change channels on your phone.

I don't think it happens when the machine is off. I turned in the modem and the voices became clearer after that.

I wonder if Comcast is set up properly in your area - it wouldn't be the first time rural(?) services have been found not to be stable (not necessarily with Comcast).

Somebody still has a land line? Eek!
I would suspect your telephones. Find out if any recalls are in effect for your phones, and call the FCC.
If your phones are at fault, it is not your fault--but the company who sold them is in big trouble.

Bingo, I think the quality of the phones is the answer. But the phone co. should be able to determine if the phones meet FCC specs. or if the lines are not grounded properly.

I am thinking that the neighbors have cordless phones using the same frequencies/channels--maybe it can be changed.
Several years ago, we had a UHF conflict with our neighbors, our Dish remotes, and the same frequencies.
Since the receivers gave a choice of channels for our remote, we selected one with a higher number.
Our neighbor was delighted that he did not have to watch my favorite shows. He hated HGTV.

If it is a land line then the problem could be in the switching centre. The cables need to be separated far enough not to interfere with each other (I dated a lineman once in the 70's and heard a lot about this stuff). This is a problem with older equipment. Your Bipap can not cause this.
