My beautiful leak line!

Post by library lady » Thu Apr 24, 2014 7:53 am

Started using my new cushion 2 nights ago; my leaks have improved immensely. Last night's leak line was about the best I've had since starting cpap. I did wake up to a couple of face farts, but just jiggled the mask and went right back to sleep. I do use mask liners; I wouldn't have managed to stay on the hose without them, I don't think.

Well I guess we have the answer to the leak question. The cushion was tired and didn't want to work anymore.
Part of the increases in the leak line are in direct correlation to increases in pressure...so those are to be expected.
As the pressure varies we expect the leak line to vary.

Looks like only one brief excursion up near 70 L/min (which is still below large leak territory) was the worst it ever went to.

Do you wake often? I see the breaks in therapy line so I know you woke up at those times and turned the machine off.
Any idea why?

Two of them were bathroom breaks, the first one was to redo the headgear; somehow one of the straps got twisted and I needed to see what I was doing in order to fix it. There was one break when I pulled the elbow for a drink of water, which is just 3 steps away from the bed... I set the bottle down wrong and it tipped over, so I had a little spill to wipe up - used my pajamas since they were already wet and went back to bed. Most nights I do wake up a couple times during the night, always for a very short interval for water, sometimes the bathroom, sometimes just stay in bed. Only if I get up do I turn the machine off.

It would also be nice to see the "events" (Sleep Therapy Flags) section of the report.

Are you a back sleeper or do you use other positions thru nite?
I have never had a leak line like yours cuz I switch positions .

Congratulations!!! Great work.

My hubby drinks water at night too & gets up about once, sometimes twice a night. I find for myself, not drinking at night & not drinking for at least 3 hours before bedtime puts my nighttime arousals at 0. I rarely awake at night & rarely move either. I've been at this for 14 years & found doing away with little liquid is a great trade off for a full night of uninterrupted sleep.

I wish my leak line looked as good as yours, I'm a little jealous.

@Darco: I switch positions all night long, rarely have this nice a line.
@Jencat: I get such a dry mouth that I keep the water on hand for when I wake up with cotton-mouth, don't drink every night, but always right away in the morning. Otherwise I wouldn't keep the water handy... it's so easy to do with a straw as my mouth is right in line with the elbow and I don't have to take the mask off.
