Can you buy cpap supplies online and apply to FSA?

Post by sleepingAgainDsmIA » Mon Apr 21, 2014 5:54 pm

My first post so please go easy on me, although I have read on here numerous times great forum.

Ok, I just switched insurance and got the dreaded first EOB in the mail, what once was 50 to 75 bucks for supplies suddenly jumped to over 350 bucks.

So, after getting off the phone with my insurer and supplier, this was not in error.

So, I need to find a place to find my supplies cheaper moving forward. I found cpap.com and they are much cheaper than my current place by far.

My question is has any one bought online and been successful in applying these medical supplies to their FSA in the US?

Many thanks.

You need a prescription to get the supplies. I would get a copy for yourself in case the FSA company asks for proof (some are worse than others about this).

What did you get that now costs $350 US that used to be only $50?

You will need a scrip in any event to purchase online.
You might do a little price comparison of other online DME companies such as DirectHomeMedical.
Sometimes they are higher and sometimes lower than others.

You can buy from cpap.com & either use your FSA MasterCard/Visa or pay & submit to your plan for reimbursement. As stated, you will need a RX for masks. Most other supplies don't require a RX. I like cpap.com & use them when possible.

Sounds like your insurance & DME are doing a number on you. What on earth did they charge you $350 for?

Online is usually a lot less.---and my PayFlex covered prescription items and other, non-rx, related items.
I think the items covered are determined by federal law.
