Humidifier broke

Post by alpha752 » Fri Apr 18, 2014 1:19 pm

So my 2 month old System one humidifier broke last night. The light is flashing and it's not heating up. I tried the unplug and plug back in thing and it didn't work.

I called my DME and the receptionist confirmed it was under warranty, but I had to schedule an appointment with the RT to get it looked at. She can't see me until Wednesday! I guess I have a dry throat and compromised therapy until then. Ridiculous. I should be able to go up there, give them the broken one and take a new one home today.

Put some water in the tank anyway. With the air moving over the water it will pick up some moisture even if it isn't heating up.
Not a lot but better than nothing.

Just another reason why we have spare equipment. DMEs often don't go out of their way to help you out...sad but true.

So I'm finding. I bought my own machine because of trouble with the DME, but I'm still using the humidifier they gave me. Since I paid for it, and it's under warranty I expect them to replace it.

They're more trouble then they worth.

Your post should come as a Wake Up Call for those who think that if anything goes wrong with their machine, their DME will replace it overnight.

Did you actually disconnect the humidifier from the XPAP, or did you just unplug the machine from the power?
Are there any error messages in the LCD screen?

I did both, disconnected it from the machine, and unplugged the machine, several times. I tried to run the preheat with out the chamber in, and the plate doesn't warm up, the light just flashes. There are no messages on the screen, just the light flashing. I tried to turn off system one in the settings, and get the same results.

How about if you completely disconnect the HH unit from the CPAP? Any errors or flashing lights?

I don't have a service manual for that machine, so I'm not much help in this regard.

If the humidifier icon lights are blinking, More than likely it's the connection between the pap and the humidifier, not the humidifier. Make sure the dme switches out both components.
