It's the end of the world. Well, at least an eclipse.

Post by archangle » Mon Apr 14, 2014 11:00 pm

There's a total lunar eclipse tonight. Go out and watch it if you get the chance.

Google it for the times and details, but roughly 1:40 AM Eastern time, the fun starts.

Apparently some people think it's a "blood moon" and may herald the end of the world. Or at least Tax Day in the US, which is bad enough.

More afraid of taxes since mine are done and I can't find half my documents! I think for the first time ever, I will file for an extension.

Thank you for reminding us. I just went out to look as it should have started here in the west already. The moon is very bright although there are some clouds. Don't see anything yet but now I will have to stay up a while. Watching "The Shining" again which seems appropriate with a blood moon! I would really like to see it!!

Here is what NASA has to say including the timeline. At least if we miss it today it's going to be happening again a few times this year!

Here in California at 11:07 p.m., a grayish shadow is just starting to appear on the edge. Looks like it's going to take a while. Finally, one advantage to having DSPS.

Not quite half here, but close. No color though.

12:08, just a hint of coppery shadow, mostly dark, and that little sliver like you're seeing...

Wish I had a telescope....must be awesome to see! It's 12:17AM. The sliver is gone and there's a coppery color on about 1/2 of it......not red yet!

Just went out and saw it with the granddaughter. Couldn't see much red - mostly just dark, but hey, she can say she saw it. Was trying to find out where Mars is in relation to the moon, since they said it is more visible now. We saw what we thought was it a bit west of the moon but have no idea if it was just a star.

It's just completely dark here. No color anymore.....it's just missing from the sky. I think the article said it was going to be a couple more hours until it turns red. Everything's on eastern time so have to subtract 3 hours here.

My dogs think I'm nuts. The moon is over my house so I keep going out the front door to my driveway to look.....and it's gotten cold even though it was warm today!!
