Adding my thanks to that. Several veterans in the family, as well as deceased veterans, and a grandson currently serving. Thank you is inadequate to express the appreciation due to each and every one who has served.

YES, THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE!

I was on my way to the mall this morning after a Dr. visit and happened to fall in behind a pickup truck that had graphics on his back windshield that said he was a Vietnam Vet. He turned into a convenience store, so I followed him in and got out and walked up and shook his hand and personally thanked him for serving our country. We chatted for about 10 minutes and when I was getting ready to leave, he thanked me, saying I was only one of less than a handful of strangers that had ever walked up and personally thanked him for serving. So, if your out today and run into a soldier in uniform, don't be afraid to walk up and personally thank them for their service, they deserve so much more than that. I live near Ft. Campbell, Ky. (home of the 101st screaming eagles) and there are a lot of military men and women that live in our town, and I want to thank each and every one of them for their service and the sacrifices they have made!

Mike received 6 phone calls today from family and friends thanking him for his service to our country. It really meant a lot to him. The only downside was that it started the memories again and he had to describe to me again the horrible events of the war and how and when he was wounded down to the minutes( "I was hit at 3PM, took the 6 pills that we all carried with us and was picked up by the medics at 3:15PM"). This is what's so amazing because he currently has a pretty severe memory deficit with concentration problems and forgets things on a daily basis.

DoriC, I'd like to say a big thank you to you and thousands like you who are taking care of wounded vets. I don't think I heard you mentioned today, although that might be because I was not listening to the radio/watching TV all day. I am not a service member, but my father was in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. He was not injured, but he did get typhoid fever while learning to fly. My mother, and to some extent us kids, had to put up with a lot because of that. So I do at least partly understand what being a carer for a vet can be like. It's certainly not "one parade and done" for you folks. God bless you and those you care for. Just thought you deserved a mention, too!

Here in Australia Nov11 is Remembrance day. Originally it was to remember those who died in WW1, now it's to remember those who died in all wars/conflicts.

ANZAC day April 25th is when we thank our veterans.

ANZAC day April 25th is when we thank our veterans.
Armistice Day (which coincides with Remembrance Day and Veterans Day, public holidays) is commemorated every year on 11 November to mark the armistice signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front of World War I, which took effect at eleven o'clock in the morning—the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918. While this official date to mark the end of the war reflects the ceasefire on the Western Front, hostilities continued in other regions, especially across the former Russian Empire and in parts of the old Ottoman Empire.

Absolutely. On the very day the Armistice was signed and the guns went silent on the Western Front, a regiment of U.S. Army troops stationed in Toulgas, northern Russia, were fighting for their lives against waves of Bolshevik assaults. And Greece was far from through with the Turks, invading with the aim of eradicating the whole country.

Also, thank you for your service, Veterans. You are Heroes!

Several restaurants in my area offerred free or discounted meals to vets.

It was truly heartwarming to see the vets or their spouses pulling the discharge papers out of the very yellowed envelopes.

After just a short time, the documentation requirement was waived by the restaurant I was in. After all, it WAS pretty obvious who the heros amongst us were.
