Software for Resmed S9 Auto?

Post by yardbird » Thu Dec 01, 2011 8:51 pm

Been away a while. Looking at machines. The S9 seems at least as well liked by its owners as my Intellipap. But if you buy a new machine, does it come with software? It looks like ResScan 3.7 is "no longer available". Is a card reader built in to the S9 and what software do you use to read the data?

thanks

Rescan 3.14 is available for free, and there is a program called Sleepyhead written by one of our members that a lot of people like to use, also free. You can use any sd card reader as the card that the S9 writes to is a standard sd card.

I just read that Rescan 3.16 is available.
Can you guide me to a copy?
Also where can I get a copy of sleepyhead?

Yardbird, The link to the software download is in my signature, compliments of Uncle Bob, as is a tutorial video that will let you know what to expect. I think the software is the big winner over the PR machines. Check them out.

Thank you for this. I had just asked a similar question (missed this thread). I am off to see if I can figure this stuff out now.

Thanks for the SleepyHead link. I was wondering (this might be a stupid question..) what you need to have the SleepyHead work with the machine that I own now? My machine is listed below. Thanks so much!

I think your link is hosed. It takes you to the cpaptlak member list.

This one should go directly to Uncle Bob's profile and the link for software is in his signature line.

SleepyHead will not work on the older machines that use smart cards and the card readers.
S9 series machines with SD cards and PR S1 machines with SD cards and working on DeVilbiss machines with SD cards.

Does the machine come with an SD card? I want to be prepared when my machine comes so if I need to buy one, what size or does it matter? Thanks.

My DME provided me with two 1 GB SD cards and a mailer, so I could send the card to him periodically and have send me the Rescan reports and return my SD Card.
Mine have the Resmed label on them so would probably cost $30 or $40 each.

I suspect they could be purchased at Amazon or Staples for under $5.

Yes, it will most likely come with a SD card. If you wish to get a spare to have just in case there is a problem you can. A cheap generic SD card (1 GB or 2 GB and is plenty big enough) will work just fine. I got a 2 GB SD card at Walmart for about $8.
One other thing just so you will be prepared...does your computer have a slot on it for SD card? Like for SD card from a digital camera? If it does then you don't need anything else. If the computer doesn't have a slot for the SD card then you will need a SD card reader/adapter to plug into one of the USB ports. Again cheap generic will work and I think I have seen SD card and card reader combos for around $12..otherwise the generic card readers run around $10. Just needs one end to go into USB port and a slot for the SD card.

My computer does have a slot for an SD card but I noticed it was too big for my camera SD card. It's an old camera but the computer is fairly new so I am sure it will work. I know I should just wait for the tech person to bring the thing by and show me things but I have learned from you experts that it is better to be prepared.

Thanks so much for your replies. I owe you. :-0

Ok well after some stomping around the internet I have ResScan 3.16 and the clinician manual for the S9 Autoset as well as an instructional document for ResScan.

I have an appointment with a new sleep doc on the 15th. My current machine is out of warranty but I've paid for all my machines out of pocket except for my very first one about 18 years ago. My insurance tells me I'm 100% covered for CPAP stuff from in-plan providers. Doc is in plan and a new DME I'm trying out is also in plan. If I can get an S9 Autoset with heated humidifier for free, I might just go for it.

Thanks, the link worked before, I copied it from another member after repeated requests for the software. I have updated it in my signature.
Thanks again,
Liz
