OSA/sleep deprivation can make a co-existing mental illness worse. There are some reports in the literature of psychosis resolving with treatment of OSA, suggesting that, in those cases, the psychosis was caused by the OSA. Probably some cases of OSA develop in people with psychotic disorders when the medications they are on cause significant weight gain. The relationship between sleep and mental illness is no doubt complicated. That said, I can't fathom that in a person with no prior psychotic episodes, missing a few days of CPAP could result in psychosis.
