I have an RESMED S8 Elite II with H4i Heated Humidifier CPAP machine that I need to sell. It is in excellent working order. Comes with a nice blue bag, the manual and power cord. The only thing I don't have is the mask but I do have a good tube. Where can I go to sell it?

$100! That's amazing. I'm still using my S8 and it works perfectly after over 12,000 hours of use. Cost $2200 new. Worse depreciation than a car! Is the S9 really that much better? Do you need a prescription to buy one off Craigslist? Is there an S10 coming soon?

$2200? Seriously? You should take a look at cpap.com

No RX required when purchasing off of Craigslist since it is a private party sale. Besides, who in their right mind would buy and use one of these machines if they didn't need to.
We don't know the status of any S10s yet. They keep that stuff all hush hush. Their rumor control mill keeps real tight lips.

For everyone else..my general thoughts about this

Retail price of $2200...that's the pie in the sky DME billed out price. 99% of the time insurance companies knocked that price to half or even more than half by doing the "amount allowable" reduction. If someone paid $2200 out of pocket because they didn't have insurance..the DME was laughing all the way to the bank on that sale.

On Craigslist someone might find a buyer for the S8 Elite II with all the goodies for more than $100 because a lot of people don't know the machines but here on this forum the members are pretty machine and price savvy. I watch Craiglist from time to time to look for killer deals and 90% of what I see are old discontinued machines with prices greater than what I can buy a new model machine for from cpap.com. The sellers are basing prices on the DME inflated prices they may have seen on the original paperwork.
When I see a Remstar Plus that was discontinued in 2007 being offered for a "steal" of a price at $600 I just have to laugh at them. Brand new that machine didn't cost that much online.

I always suspect a poster who comes here with their first post being "hey guys, I have so and so machine where can I sell it". I think that is is nothing but a thinly veiled attempt to sell it here. Nothing wrong with that I suppose since we do it from time to time but they won't sell it for any pie in the sky amount here. The forum members are machine smart and know the value and it doesn't matter what the original price might have been. They want killer deals because killer deals are out there and they already have a machine (sometimes more than one) and they don't have to buy just any machine right now.

Well, I can tell you I wasn't thinking killer deal at the time I bought it. My doctor wrote a script for a machine I desperately needed and I went to one of the places he recommended and bought it. I wasn't in the mood for online shopping at the time and knew nothing about CPAP machines anyway. I just checked my records and I see it was actually $2016, not $2200 and that included the Swift FX mask so not so bad. I also see an S9 Elite at a online Canadian CPAP supplier today for $1769 so it's pretty much the same prices now as the masks all cost $350 here when purchased separately. Looked on Craigslist but didn't see an S8 Elite but there was a S8 Auto for $500. As with most things, CPAP machines cost more up here. I wonder if the US sites will accept a Canadian Rx and ship to Canada. I'm thinking probably not but I'll find out for sure when next in the market. By the way, my cost out of pocket was $1240 as the heath coverage here pays $780 which is a help.

A big +1 for Pugsy's critical but necessary comments Regarding Canadian Rxs it's my understanding that a citizen of Canada can buy from most US CPAP online discounters without an Rx. Correct me, you Canadians, if I am mistaken.

EDIT: I just got a PM that said regulations regarding Canada and the international markets have been changing recently and that there is pressure being put on various US CPAP suppliers (pressure by ResMed and PR) not to ship directly out of the US. Anyone have any updates on this development Sounds like PR and ResMed want to control their own distribution channels IMO.

As a comparison, I bought a S9 Elite from forum member mcdover recently. It had about 240 hours use, heated humidifier, new tubing, data card, and a case that looked brand new... $220 shipped.

Another canuck here . You will need an rx to buy from an online seller, I have one registered with cpap.com and one clinicalsleep.com (Canada). I usually buy from cpap.com but they cannot ship PR or Resmed equipment to Canada from the U.S. so that is when I use clinicalsleep.com I bought my original machine an F&P 604 (brick) and a quatto mask at a dme near where I live for $1600 (nice huh)....... I didn't know any better . I have never been back to the original rip off joint and now use the two online sellers mentioned... plus members here who have something I need to trade or sell.
Good luck
Nan

This latest document released by PR to resellers seems to indicate they are getting every bit as strict as Resmed:

Yep, that's what I had heard but hadn't seen any official documentation until now.
ResMed has been doing it for quite some time now.
I believe that this even includes replacement nasal pillows for either ResMed or Respironics.
That's okay...we have ways to get ResMed stuff to Canada and we can do the same with the Respironics if our Canadian members can't find a Canadian source with a comparable price.

For Canadians - I recently found another good Canadian site in Ontario. (Cpapclinic.ca)
They provide free shipping and 30 days money back even on masks. Great customer service!

I have not purchase a machine from them yet but got a pretty good price on the Nuance mask I just got. I could have gotten it through a circuitous route from cpap.com at a cheaper price but it was not bad and delivered in about 3 business days!

They are Toronto based but will ship Canadawide. They are worth checking out. I have now purchased 3 cpap items from them - kept 2 and returned 1.

No, I don't work for them!
