Post by gailzee » Wed Jan 19, 2005 1:35 pm

MY DME ONLY WILL ''RENT'' ME A CPAP AUTO RESMED SPIRIT. THEY SAID THEY CAN'T EVEN ''GET'' THE 420E p&b. ANY THOUGHTS OUT THERE ON THIS MACHINE? IT SEEMS COMPARABLE......I WANT THE AUTO.
IT COMES WITH HUMIDIFICATION.
IT CAN BE RENTED.
THANKS!

RESMED SPIRIT AUTOSET

Post by AUTOMATIC » Wed Jan 19, 2005 1:57 pm

Gaileeze,
I will be setting up a resmed system in 1 hour. The regional resmed rep. is coming in to demonstrate. My experience is they are a very customer service oriented company. All they do are cpaps. You will have to clear your rental with insurance. Do not believe that sleep labs are too concerned about the machine. If the mask you used in the study works then go for it. You can mix and match companies, equipment to meet your needs. Remember, you are the customer and always right....AUTOMATIC

You are so right. After hearing the whiny cry of two DME"s today ad the line of BS they hand out (sorry for language) boy what a racket. I think I'll start up a DME business. Lord Knows we all know more they they do, and it's who gets the biggest kickback from the mftr. Do these dme's and and doctors think we're stupid

I'll keep the saga going with Round 2 tomorrow, see who calls me 1st.

Gailzee,
Just finished with my resmed orientation. Awesome piece of equipment. The auto set with humidity looks like the way to go. Mask will be your preference. Let it and the system work for you. Seek the truth and you shall sleep; yeh verily. By the way {with a chuckle} I am in the process of starting an Hme company. I am here to listen to the people in the know. Keep me informed. Still fighting medicare and insurance on reimbursement. Will try to devise a way to make it easier on the folks in need....Best wishes..AUTOMATIC

Gailzee,
I use a spirit and a PB 420E . I think IMHO the 420E is the better unit. Its smaller, has a integrated humidifier, is less expensive and the software is 1/2 the price. The spirit doesnt detect my central apneas and just makes things worse. The PB 420E works great when I have centrals. The 420E costs 799 with software and humidifier . So whatever the dme is charging your deductible will probably buy it outright.
My Resmed broke and they had it for 6 weeks. Found out it never worked properly fromthe start. Supposedly its fixed now. Still get better results with the PB 420E !

No offense AUTOMATIC, You attended an orientation :shock : ...LOL ...I think us users have a bit more experience with the spirit and 420E than attending an orientation . We live with it. It is a fine machine , however it lacks a few things that the PB420E has. Most certainly the 420 is cheaper. The software is cheaper and easier to use. Its much smaller 1.5 lbs vs 5.5 and has a integrated humidifier. It also operates from 12 volts should the power fail or you like to go camping . Did I say the software is half the price and is a must with all Auto cpaps.

Just my 2 cents .

Give AUTOMATIC a break Waverly, He's new even if he is a DME wanna be. The only way he really could know the ins and outs of cpap is to wear 1 every night. Or, read this forum daily and be a user. Hopefully AUTOMATIC will learn to listen to his patients (customers) and do what makes them happy. This is the age of the internet. We can get answers to any question from anyplace . Look at Surly Abonds from the book repository in India. He has learned more from posts than the Drs.and DMEs have taught us. The Docs need to hear this also. We are not the lead us by the hand patients of the past . We are modern techno geeks that want answers not something like: That depends on the phase of the moon and depending on the rotation of the earth during the summer solstice BS. We want answers

If you dont like that explaination FOLLOW THE MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Rant Over

AUTOMATIC--good luck with the business. The tips you learn here will be worth more than any seminar. Just remember seminar=sales, we got the picture, a lot faster than the mftrs want us to. The second DME was going to ''explain'' how these machines, and threw in some jargon, well I patiently took the info in, and then read him off my concerns, questions, replies, what not. He said I"LL ""CALL YOU BACK""..haaaa. Like I said they think we're stupid, no nothings and that they have it over us. Well not being a techno geek (or wanna be one for that matter), I just want the simplest, smallest, most up to date, automatic whatevers and go from there. I know he's pushing that old bomb as he probably has some lying in the back of his shop, which if it stops snowing I'm going to go look at..........Tomorrow will be a new day and who gets to me first with the promise of the 420E gets my business. See what happens.............

thanks for the advice. And nice to hear from Waverly again.
