Get a liner and yes, I think the strap pad would be a good investment also. What size Amara View did you get? Did they ... spine pain. IMHO it offers the best chance for success without killing the neck...or at least that was my situation. I kept it just in case I ever couldn't use ...

... yesterday, I remembered I had a cervical collar and tried it last night. My mouth stayed shut and things went much better. I think I bought this neck support from SkyMall a few years back, so it's not a medical grade cervical collar, but is smaller and softer. I'll keep you posted.

If your sleep doc is an orthopod or neuro-muscular specialist, I would give it due consideration. Mine's a pulmonologist, so not so much in the neck muscle/nerves area. I read this recommendation for fitting yesterday:

You are looking for a comfortable fit 2-inches larger than the circumference of your neck and just tall enough to support the jaw when your head falls out of alignment (measure your neck from collarbone to jaw and subtract 1".

My sleep doctor told me a collar would cause my neck muscles to deteriorate over time. I'm will to try one now at this stage. My ... night. Dry mouth wasn't bad. But ahi still high. Lat night I used the chin strap over the headgear. Humidity at 5 causes the machine to run out after 6 hrs
