Re: Problem - Not a good night - Advice on Full Face Mask please

Anyone have any recommendations for a full face mask to use with humidifier and heated tubing? Hi, I tired a number of full face masks, and lived with this torture device called a Quatro for several months. My face just isn't designed to work with one of them things. Based on advice from some other...

Re: New BiPAP/ASV user

I think that I'm having trouble trusting the machine. Hi, Here is what is kind of funny about humans…while we have very regular patterns for breathing when we are sleeping, our breathing is all over the place when we are awake. The more we think about it, the more irregular our breathing becomes. S...

Re: Little Data found

Hi, Unfortunately, I think that hours used is the only data that an Escape records and reports. In my opinion, it is a crime that vendors push these low end boxes that are about as dumb as a brick. It makes it impossible to track and optimize your treatment. If you have an option to return the machi...

Re: Second Night questions

...I have been waiting for my husband to leave for work.. self concious a bit I guess. Something I am going to have to get over Friday and Saturday night. Julie, I can understand that, but maybe we can look at it a different way. If you broke your arm, would you be self-conscious about wearing a ca...

Hi,

It was better than OK. You used the machine, you made it through the night, and you got a decent AHI. That is a good 30 day goal, let alone doing it on the first night. You did really well.

Re: bumped up my pressure; now my AHI is far better...and worse!

And I appreciate the statistical insignificance of the variance in my readings. Believe me, I feel lucky to have my AHI numbers. Hi, It would be interesting to see your data graphs. I wonder if your events are mostly during REM? If so, one possibility is that with the higher pressure, you are sleep...

Re: supplies

Hi, I like to buy my supplies on-line. The forum sponsor carries just about everything, and has good prices. I have also bought supplies off of E-bay, Amazon, and at least one other on-line site. In all cases, the prices were less than what I would have paid at my local DME. In many cases, paying fo...

Re: Is there any relation between dreams and quality of sleep?

Now that I'm on therapy I have very vivid dreams almost every night. It's like they're in full color and high definition! Old Dude, Yes, that is an excellent sign. That means that you are getting a lot of quality REM sleep. You were probably dreaming before, but probably far less than normal, and y...

Re: Weight Loss and Pressure Adjustment

Has anyone hear seen their pressure numbers change with a signficant weight loss? Hi, I was on BiPAP at 14/21 when I weighed 330 lbs. I have lost 165 lbs, exactly 1/2 of my body weight. I am now on APAP in the range of 9 to 14, with my pressure typically around 11 or 12. That is the good news part....

Re: Struggling adapting to APAP

Hi, Your body is very good at adapting to all kinds of circumstances. In fact, you are probably pretty well adapted to getting pretty poor sleep. Now that you are breathing better with CPAP, your body doesn't quite know what to do. You essentially have to learn to sleep all over again, starting with...

Just wondering cuz I feel ashamed I gotta use a cpap I haven't even been using it lately and I'm not even overweight or anything I'm muscular/built Hi, There is nothing to be ashamed of here. I have run 4 full marathons and 11 half marathons so far this year, and I have been using CPAP for 5 years....

Re: Newbie

I am only on day three with it so perhaps more tweaking is necessary. Hi, This early in, I'd worry less about data and more about trying to get as much sleep as possible. Getting the mask to fit comfortably and getting leaks knocked down is the key right now. Once you get about 2 weeks in, then sta...

Re: Gas and intestinal issues

A chinstrap did not help. And it doesn't have anything to due with "swallowing" air. The air is blown down the throat, no swallowing needed. Hi, Yes, a chinstrap isn't going to help air ingestion. It isn't coming in from the mouth. Rather, it is due to geometry of the shape where your airway and es...

Re: Sleepyhead / First CPAP night question

Since my lab study was a little bit inconclusive (slept 4hrs in all), I want to know if theres a way for me to know what WOULD HAVE BEEN my AHI without my machine last night....?? Hi, Being a numbers nerd, I find that to be a great question. I'd love it if my machine kept a count of every event tha...

Re: Need Help

Why she sleeps on her back a lot is she has had most of her clavicle removed so it gets sore sleeping on the side for long periods of time. I may have not put the right humidifier on the specs. Wes, Is one side better than the other, or does it get equally sore on both sides? In the first few years...
