Re: Will tap water damage my machine?

In a pinch I will use tap water that comes from a well. But most commercial ( cities and towns ) tap water is treated with fluorine and chlorine which will come out of the water as a gas when it is heated in the tank, which you will then breathe in. If you need to use that water I would recommend bo...

Re: Surge Protector for your ASV

Sorry about that I think my spelling checker changed them, and I didn't notice. They are MOVs (metal Oxide Varistors).

Re: Surge Protector for your ASV

When looking for a good surge protector the things to look for are a fused, or circuit breaker on the input side and one that protects all three legs of the power. Cheaper units only have one MOS between the power and the neutral leg, good ones will include this one and two more, one from neutral le...

Re: DeVilbiss IntelliPAP users, help with water tank please

Now that you have it open, to clean mine I use a tooth brush to get into the small channels and corners, with some mild dish soap, and then I put it into the dish washer with the heater turned off in the dry cycle. About every fourth or fifth cleaning I will rinse it with nine parts distilled water,...

Re: Outlet bacteria filters

I tried these filters a couple of years ago, after one or two days the humidity builds up on them and I wake up in the middle of the night with hardly any air flow through them. I tried alternating days with them to let them dry out but that didn't seem to help much, so I quit using them. still have...

Re: What kind of water can I use in humidifier?

I have one suggestion to those using tap water, if you are using from a municipal water system or if using well water in a known Radon area. I would recommend boiling your water for five minutes and then letting it cool. to remove the dissolved gases in the water. Most city water systems add chlorin...

So very thankfull for my battery power supply for my CPAP

We had an Ice storm here in Michigan on Saturday/Sunday, when we lost power, we just got it back wednesday at 6:30 pm. My 125 Amp/hour deep cycle battery that is hooked to a float charger kept me with cpap through out the four powerless nights. The power company reports that there is 64,000 customer...

Re: No matter what! rainout every night

The Series M machines are notorious for rainout, I can't believe anyone would rent them out anymore. If you need more humidity than at zero, you can buy a third party heated hose such as the Hybernite or if you do a search for reptile hose heater here on cpaptalk, you can make your own heated hose. ...

Re: lost SD card

Any SD card will work, make sure it is just a SD card and not a HDSD card generally the card that are under 4 Giabytes are just SD card.
Just plug it into you machine and it should format it .

Re: Duracell Backup Power Generator

I use a system similar to John's, I use the battery system as my primary power. With my first cpap a Respronics M series with the Humidifier, the Battery Tender plus struggled to keep the charge up and got very warm, until I modified it by putting a large heat sink on the back of the unit over the p...

Re: Battery Backup Design (V2)

Great job John. The only suggestion is to add a section on fusing. I see in the pictures you do have a fuse in the battery case but make no mention of it. In mine I currently have two fuses. one inside the battery box and a smaller on for the leg powering the cpap. I agree with you that not recommen...

Re: Bad Distilled water?

I never had any trouble with distilled water when I used my Respronics M Series machine, But when I switched over to my Intellipap I started getting floaties after a few days. I finally traced it down to the brand of distilled water, if I by it from Wal-mart, I get floaties in my Intellipap after a ...

Re: Which Machine for use in SEMI TRUCK

I have a older "Brick" Respronics ( it does not record data) and a Intellipap. I would go with a new Respronics with a heated hose. While the Intellipap does work very well on 12 volts, the humidifier does not work on 12volts. I use my Respronics for when I go tent camping because I need the humidit...
