Has anyone tried Marc McDonald's alternative treatment?

Post by fmj13 » Sun Jul 21, 2013 3:45 pm

I personally am not planning to cease using CPAP, but thought it might be helpful, but I wanted to know if it is really worth the $.

IMHO this is just like the speakers that tell you that you can make millions in the real estate or stock market by sending them $$$$ for their books and DVDs. They all have people that tell their stories on how they quit their jobs and are now making millions......No credibility with me.

For some people with mild apnea the breathing /throat exercises have been shown to be beneficial. The biggest problem with all these things is that they take effort and consistent practice for them to work. Think exercise for weight loss. It just doesn't happen for most people. The beautiful thing about cpap therapy is that it works while you sleep, the only time you lose during the day is to clean your equipment. For the exercises you lose 1/2 hour to one hour per day - that is 3.5 to 7 hours per week, 15 - 30 hours per month, 170 to 365 hours per year.

I am always skeptic of those that make claims that they cure apnea.

If you take a look at the landing page.....quoted from there.....
ApneaTreatmentGuide.com is dedicated to educating sleep apnea sufferers on the dozens of little-known treatments that are proven in scientific trials to cure sleep apnea (not just treat the symptoms of sleep apnea – which is what CPAP does!)
Now if there were scientific studies that were proven, wouldn't it make sense that we would have heard more about them from the source and not from someone else? The people behind the studies would have been everywhere promoting it themselves or at least had it published in a credible medical journal.

I am not saying that what he is spewing is wrong, just hypocritical. He attacks the greedy cpap manufacturers but if you go to his "products" page, to buy everything he is offering will cost you $459.

Then add what BlackSpinner already said.

Went to the link and was saddened at how someone is taking advantage of those susceptible to his crafty marketing. I started to pick it apart but decided I'm not giving it that much of my time. I'm not saying that none of the things he talks about (for quite a cost) have any value. I am saying there's nothing original, and he uses manipulative marketing language which leads me to suspect he is capitalizing on the problems of others to pad his own pockets without regard to the consequences to those who follow his leading. Actually, it's a great marketing plan - he did not put all his eggs in one basket. When a customer has purchased his information on one topic and finds it fails to cure their apnea, they can then purchase info on and try another... and another - and another.. all the while wasting life-saving time without effective treatment, not to mention the money.

I guess my question is which of "his" methods cured his wife's sleep apnea?

Was gonna say sorry for being so harsh, but no, I'm not. However, if someone has the money to spend to pay him for compiling info on a topic of interest instead of reading it online for themselves, then by all means, spend your money however you wish. I don't have an issue with him getting compensated for the work he put into compiling things. I personally would not get the information from him for the simple reason of how he comes across - in my opinion.

I don't think you were harsh at all. For sure not nearly as harsh as my first thoughts when I went to the website...it was then that I remembered that this was mentioned back when I first started cpap therapy over 4 years ago. This isn't something new at all. I had seen it way back 4 years ago.
So if you think you were harsh...I was thinking a very simple comment....and it wasn't very nice.
Old MacDonald has a lot of BS (cow and bull excrement) on his farm and it doesn't smell very good either... except to farmers because when they smell cow poop they laugh and say it smells like money.
This "cure"...smells like BS to me but I imagine he thinks it smells like money at those prices.
Wonder how many people with central sleep apnea his ideas have cured??

So I am not sorry for being harsh either.

Pugsy and Kteague are speaking the truth. Due to my immense struggles with pap therapy, I am a big time sucker for these types of posts even though I know they are a bunch of BS. But of course, that doesn't stop me from investigating further

This guy was not advocating anything that you couldn't find out about for free. And I greatly resent people like him preying on vulnerable people who are looking for cpap alternatives for various reasons.

I am doing the exercises now but its only been a week so too early to tell. I can tell you that customer service is non existent. I signed up for the deluxe package and never got the access to it. Will not respond to repeated requests. There is no phone number so i suspect its just a bunch of crap. Stay away, lots of free exercise stuff available

Jayjay, you are lucky to have spotted this scam.
To others tempted to go this route, please abandon this hopeless nonsense.
No doubt people love you, and will miss you when you are gone.
Should a stroke turn you into a helpless vegetable, it could destroy any chance of a future for your family.
This garbage is a fantasy you can NOT afford!

Sheriff, sad to say, the good ole McRib ain't what it was in the beginning.
It's smaller, more ground up, and seems to contain way more fat and gristle than they used to.
Less onions, and even the sauce sucks.
I once loved then; hubby still likes them, but the latest incarnation just gags me.
Frog.
