Re: How do I find out if insurance has a "capped" rental plan ?

After posting and going through my receipts and notes, it just dawned on me that I'm wasting money by dealing with Lincare. I'm going to ask my sleep doc at tomorrow's appointment to write me an Rx for a new Philips Respironics machine (I like my machine and I already own the humidifier). Then I'm g...

How do I find out if insurance has a "capped" rental plan ?

Hi everyone. Haven't posted here in months, mostly because I'm doing so well with my machine (people who were here during the summer of 2013 might remember my wailing and panicking over not being able to get used to my Bipap machine. I suspect my DME, Lincare, has been ripping off my insurance carri...

Re: PR System 1 BiPap Auto BiFLex just stopped working

Okay, as much as it pains me to admit what a dope I am, it turns out there isn't a blessed thing wrong with my CPAP machine. I mixed up the power adaptor with the one for my laptop, and it wouldn't work. I discovered the mistake this morning when I was unpacking and putting everything in it's rightf...

Re: PR System 1 BiPap Auto BiFLex just stopped working

Thanks for the support, I still have a ways to go, but I do feel so much better lately. Pugsy, I found the sticker and my machine is new, made April 25, 2013, so I can't blame them for giving me an old one. I'm going to call them first thing in the morning and arrange for a swap. I'm really tired an...

Re: PR System 1 BiPap Auto BiFLex just stopped working

Thanks, Granny. Fortunately my daughter is able to share the driving with me, and I'm 50 lbs. lighter than I was when I was first dx'd in April 2013 (My AHI was 108), so I'm not in as bad shape as I was before I started using my machine consistently.

PR System 1 BiPap Auto BiFLex just stopped working

Worked fined Monday night. Tuesday I carefully packed it up for the ten hour drive from Connecticut to Ohio for daughter's freshman orientation (Bobcat not Buckeye). Tuesday night I carefully unpack said machine, and as soon as I plugged in the power cord the display read "Service Required" and it s...

Re: Phillips Remstar System One Manual?

Hmmm, my DME gave me the provider's setup manual along with the other manuals.... that means once I'm confident enough to do so, they won't mind if I change my own pressure, etc? Or was it a mistake that I'm not going to tell them about? The dope from the DME left the Provider Guide to my Philips R...

OT: writing short article on unscrupulous debt collectors

I'm writing a short article for an online consumer newspaper that concerns the government's attempts to help people who are hounded by collection agencies. I would like to talk to one or two people who have been bothered by debt collectors recently (within the past five years, say). They would not n...

Lincare screwed me over, who should I write to?

My DME provider is Lincare (I'm in southwestern CT). Did not have a complaint about them until now, 8 mos. after I got my BiPap machine. Dec. 5 my sleepdoc faxed Rx for a new mask, a Swift FX Nano (using the Wisp now and the headgear just doesn't fit right and it leaks like a sieve). I expected Linc...

Re: Has anyone ever tried hypnosis?

HI everyone, I'm the OP on this thread but I haven't posted here in a while, mostly because I've been busy catching up on things I didn't do when my OA was untreated/undertreated. I've been using my BiPap machine faithfully all night, everynight, for nearly six months now, and I feel like a new pers...

Re: Air coming out of mouth (tape is scary!!!)

The chin strap didn't work for me: it slid all over my hair and my mouth still opened. I tried the Chin Up strips but they didn't work for me, perhaps I didn't apply them correctly. What does work for me is an inch or two of paper first aid tape (the kind you can tear off with your fingers), placed ...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.

I am one of those people who did not mask up my first night home with the machine and sleep like a baby. It took me four masks and four months to be able to keep the mask on all night, and another month or so to be able to fall asleep within 15 minutes of going to bed. I was petrified that I would n...

My next sleepdoc appointment is .....one year from now!

Saw my sleepdoc this morning for the first time since August, when I was struggling to use the machine for an hour a night. I now mask up every night and for the most part fall asleep within minutes and even if I wake briefly during the night, it's to turn over and adjust my mask straps and go back ...

OT: Recommendations for a cheaplaptop computer for home use

My HP Pavilion is falling apart. I'd like something with a comfortable keyboard. Cost is an issue. I don't use it for games, music or photos, mostly internet access, MS Office applications, home budgeting, etc. I've notice on my temp jobs that a lot of businesses use Lenovo Thinkpads and I've also s...
