Have any home remedies?

Post by LDuyer » Sun Jan 16, 2005 2:00 pm

Have any home remedies for any of the ailments you've had?

While reading the forum, my television was on in the background and I half-heard an info-commercial for a book on home or natural remedies for every thing including the kitchen sink. Don't like info-commercials, but it got me wondering..... Seems us apnea sufferers have lots of other conditions afflicting us. Would any of you have some home remedies that have worked for you, for any ailment? .....Probably a dumb question, but what the heck.....

CPAP home remedies?...You mean like using the vacuum cleaner in reverse instead of a cpap?

Linda, my mom has a book like that. Very interesting reading. Probably a lot of the things work. I never looked to see if it had a "remedy" for sleep apnea, since I know it wouldn't be effective for me. It probably mentions things like a tennis ball sewn into the back of a shirt to discourage sleeping on one's back...things like that.

I love that tennis ball sewn to the shirt trick. I laughed when I first saw that "cure" for apnea. Reminds me of those white plastic cones they put around a dogs neck to prevent him from upseting a wound while it heals.

For those of you familiar with Billy Connolly (the Scottish comedian) who has OSA, according to the latest biography written by his wife, he has an interesting take on the tennis ball trick. Claims he uses an apple so he has breakfast to hand when he wakes up

So an apple a day can keep the sleep doctor away!

Any idea if he'll accept abandoned bags of apples as payment?

This must be the sleep-apnea physiological viscious cycle we've heard so much about!
