air leaking from nasal pillow mask

Hi,

I'm using a nasal pillow mask and I've gotten to the point where I don't think it's leaking. However if I put my hand near the mask, I can feel air shooting out from it. It is at the location just below where the nasal pillows connect with my nose. I don't hear any leakage sounds, so I didn't it before. Is that supposed to happen?

Yeah that's normal. It is the vent. I believe it's primary purpose is to keep you from breathing back in the air you just exhaled. No worries, the machine compensates for it.

Also provides fresh air path if there's a power failure and your cpap stops. Happened to me, woke up one morning and my cpap wasn't running, but I was still breathing. Happy days *smile*.

Always a good day when you wake up breathing, yeah?
